[DAO:9c8e19c] RESUBMISSION: A Multi-Platform Entertainment Series to Boost DCL Brand Awareness

Thanks for not acknowledging my comment at all.

I cannot take MT seriously any longer. You wanna act funny, then be a joke.

Hi @maryana ,

Thank you for your comment and questions. I’m a consultant IRL. I am manager at a management consulting firm along with the work I do here and through my other projects.

I consult clients all the time without doing their job or aspects of their role. I am familiar with concepts, but when it comes to strategy, granular details such as the items you’ve mentioned become less important. Of course one must be familiar with what is going on, yet must be thinking on a macro level to move things forward. There are plenty of users (yourself included) that can be leveraged as experts.

Many thanks, once again!

@ALPHAALVES, Being “user-owned” is one of the pros/benefits and not the reason why Decentraland was created. I’m not sure where you got this from.

According to published sources, Decentraland is a marketplace and a virtual community center where users can buy and sell digital real estate and explore it as it is being built. Users, or community members, socialize, play games, exchange collectibles, &/or can catch music artists in concert.

Now, to say that users know what’s best because they use the platform is false. Yes, they can be a good source for information and expertise, however, if we applied this logic to things, projects, products, etc. many of businesses / ideas would fail.

Here is one example of this flawed thought process. Baby Shark is widely popular worldwide and is consumed and enjoyed by many children under the age of 3. They are the end-users/consumers of this product. Are they the best to dictate what’s best for Baby Shark? Absolutely not. This is a bit of an extreme example, but it’s great for conceptual understanding of the flaw in your argument as well as good for illustrative purposes.

Thanks for your comment and hope you enjoy your day.

i think you might have not read Decentraland’s whitepaper. (https://decentraland.org/whitepaper.pdf)

“Unlike other virtual worlds and social networks, Decentraland is not controlled by a
centralized organization. There is no single agent with the power to modify the rules of
the software, contents of land, economics of the currency, or prevent others from
accessing the world.”

we are not just “users” of the platform… WE OWN THE PLATFORM BECAUSE WE ARE INVESTORS/ " Users" of this platform.

YES, Decentraland being user-owned is a benefit of Decentraland’s protocol. Without this benefit you might as well call this world SandBox or Roblox.

The reason why many of are willing to fight for this platform is because we have been in similar ones that had full control and “knew what’s best” (For example… Second Life)… this is the first one where we can own it.

Do owners not know what is best for something they own? I am beyond a user, I am an Owner of Decentraland. If you want to know what’s best for DCL, speak to more owners of Decentraland and gather feedback.

We are not users listening to a song created by someone else and playing it on repeat. We are Owners of Decentraland using the platform, constantly critiquing and working on it to find ways to make this the dream metaverse for the masses.

my only question to you is…

Do you and your friends know what’s best for Decentraland?

Thank you for speaking up :clinking_glasses:

Whether he read this or replied to this…

Community Members of Decentraland have & will read this, they can ignore a revolutionary…

They CANNOT ignore the revolution.

DCLDAO is maturing before our eyes and i am excited to see more community members take our world seriously and create this union of a safeguard that won’t allow social engineers to repeat what has been done.

@ALPHAALVES - I’m not refuting any of the white paper information. The white paper essentially restates what I summarized in my note. Including a screenshot of the abstract for ease of reference.

Being a minority investor doesn’t mean you know what is best for a platform. I stand by this position. You can be leveraged as a SME or to help gather information about the platform. This doesn’t mean you have the business acumen nor the technological expertise to make this platform as great as what we all want it to be.

This concept does not appear to be one you understand as you keep conflating investing in and/or using the platform with knowing how to make it grow. If that were the case, respectfully, Decentraland would be in a much better place than what it is today.

Essentially, you’re saying that if you, for example, buy stock at Apple, use Apple iPhones, own a MacBook, and use iTunes, you can tell Apple’s leadership how to ensure Apple continues to flourish. That’s simply flawed.

Keeping Apple as the example, Steve Jobs often went against the grain and created things people didn’t even know they needed or wanted (such as the iPhone). Perhaps if he’d listened to the voices of users, we’d all still be confined to the QWERTY physical keyboard and carrying multiple devices for different needs (as opposed to just owning a smartphone).

Not many in this world are like Steve, so this is another hyperbolic example, however another great one to illustrate this concept.

Thanks for your illustration. Cool art.

if the community of investors doesn’t know what is best for the platform, who does?

We are the ones investing our time and resources in this platform, daily, weekly, monthly, annually…

There are members of the DCLFoundation who do not know what is best for the platform more than community members of Decentraland.

We don’t have a Steve Jobs… Our Founders have stepped down and support the community fulfilling their mission. The community is in charge of the future of Decentraland and they know what is best for DCL.

Good conversation, bad proposal. I’m sure you don’t believe the 5 Million NO votes know what is best for Decentraland. Take Care Metatrekkers family.

@Billyteacoin Hi Billy, I am glad you had fun in your participation in Beatrekkers1! Just curious to hear your thoughts on what you think DCL needs right now. Thanks

Hi Chris, you were the first person that I had a “Google meet with” and you were a very welcoming person, so thank you for that. When @InJesterr chirps stupidly around my age it makes me believe that you shared our personal time and for that I vote NO!

HI JTV, Thanks for your response. Inside our proposal we put our path to sustainability, also what will be accomplished is community engagement, onboarding of musicians, venues, allocation of funds back into the community and much more.We wrote everything above in our proposal.

Yes, two grants were revoked because of information on the initial application. Everything is noted and documented on each proposal.

Thanks for expressing your thoughts in a respectful manner.

Hi Jenn @DedHeadJ , Thank you! You were also very welcoming on the google meet as well. Thank you for that as well too. Honestly, with all due respect, I don’t remember your age, have never told @InJesterr your age and even if I knew your age wouldn’t discuss it with him. Thats your personal business. Injesterr is a very kind and nice individual and is always trying to help the community and many people. I am not sure what happed with you all, but hope you all can resolve the conflict that exist. I hope you can also reconsider your vote. Thank you.

Strictly because of a little thing like that. I am never going to vote to approve funding whatever my VP is for someone who doesn’t care for the community at all.

@phuturemusic The BeatTrekker 2 King! Thank you for your support and expressing your opinion in a very respectful manner! I really appreciate the support and collaboration we have had together. Hoping we can do many more things together in the future! Thank you so much for being an all rounded individual! Real recognizes Real!

I dont know your age, I just know you are older then me when you belittle me everytime with name callings like boy or talk about my inexperience and that when I get older that I will understand things better, or when you call yourself a sarcasticly a karen when you fud & you always try to belittle the things I do and even talked about my little sister and then ask sarcastically how she is repeadetly.

To be honest It is safe to say I talked about you many times with family members and friends irl, but not with @MetaTrekkers . Therefore please do not use me as an excuse on another project and try to exclude personal stuff from project topics. The DAO voting shouldn’t be done with emotions but with ethical voting for example, if I have an idea to bring 1 million dollars to the dao and 1000 active players dont judge me judge the project.

I’m also not on the metatrekker team and have nothing to do with metatrekkers so therefore I think the way you vote is invalid to me.

This. Stop being weird and answer the questions.

I think that my concerns are genuine. Ignoring community concerns while only responding to positive feedback is extremely unprofessional. I genuinely want MT to succeed but it is up to you and your team to figure out how to monetize your project. It is not up to the DAO to continuously pay you.

As a business owner it seems distasteful to ignore concerns. Please address my questions about your NFT project and the self sustainability (or lack thereof) of MT.

Do you really think you’ll get passed by ignoring community concerns? How can you win my or other no votes to change to a yes if you ignore us?

I love how the community is being compared to 3 year olds watching baby videos, as we are being told we don’t know what is best for the platform because we use it, and by example the users of this platform are as dumb as a 3 year old and should not be given such a task.

I’m not sure how long you’ve been in the crypto space but I think you should seriously re-evaluate your web2-corporate-mindedness.

We are the Steve Jobs of the platform.

I know this may be hard to follow but DAO’s are still very much in an infancy stage. The “baby” in this case is not the users but the protocol. It’s almost a social experiment until we know it works.

For the most part it’s working as people with a large amount of VP are voting no. Since there is no CEO and no shareholders (traditional) and no chairman of the board, no board of directors, we as investors and users and builders and creators and pioneers of this platform are all of the above and that means that collectively, we know what’s best for the platform

It is up to the METATREKKERS team to convince us, the collective that knows what’s best to believe that to fund MT is what’s best for the platform. It would not be sustainable for the platform to continuously fund MT and bad for business.

The social experiment aspect of a DAO is if humans are capable of governing themselves. If you are voting no for personal reasons then you should abstain.

Hey everyone. Hope you’re all doing well. I don’t get into DCL that often because most events are on US time zones - being honest, I miss you folks!

I’m voting yes for this. I appreciate the concerns of others on this forum. I appreciate that there have been bumps in the road, things that have not been planned for, things that have gone wrong.

I still think that, overall, this is a positive project run by people who are trying to be a positive force in the metaverse, while also paying artists for their contribution and connecting them to help them grow their presence in the space. I have Chris and his team to thank for many of the gigs I have done in the space (either booking me direct, or introducing me).

Music entertainment (Djs, bands, performers) , along with art and gaming, strike me as the most compatible activities for driving metaverse growth in a more mainstream way. I’m definitely not technical and not on top of all the latest trends going on. But, since winning Beat Trekkers last year, I have been actively looking at how to run events in the metaverse and it’s really not straight forward.

The MetaTrekker events were one of the few events that went well consistently (this is my experience). My experience as an artist was that I was looked after, expectations were clear, fees were paid without chasing, issues were tackled and negotiated in a respectful manner, where needed time and care was taken to reach fair compromises that worked.

Of the events in DCL I have attended over the past few years, the Metatrekker events (in particular the battles) had some of the highest attendance numbers with individuals engaged on X/Twitter too, making it possible to connect more broadly too.

I’d love to see another Beat Trekker season. I’d love to be a spectator this time and cheer the other DJs on.

RESUBMISSION: A Multi-Platform Entertainment Series to Boost DCL Brand Awareness

This proposal is now in status: REJECTED.

Voting Results:

  • Yes 9% 2,453,135 VP (33 votes)
  • No 89% 22,188,950 VP (52 votes)
  • Abstain 2% 647,612 VP (4 votes)

The platform itself just needs improvement. In the grand scheme of things DCL is dead right now. I still love the space myself, but spending big money on festivals/events for only 38 people is not really a good long term sustainable thing
