[DAO:9c8e19c] RESUBMISSION: A Multi-Platform Entertainment Series to Boost DCL Brand Awareness

It will be a NO from me this time. While this is definitely good for the performers and some land holders, it does nothing for the platform and advancement of Decentraland community. Other than those DJs that were currently in DCL, there is no sign of any of those that have performed in the past. They do not bring their fans with them or if any do, they do not come back. As for Metatrekkers, there is zero support for others in the community. If it is not their event, they do not make an appearance. After 2 grants being revoked they disappeared and did nothing. They do not hire people that are proficient in their duties. IE; 1. There should have been a contingency plan in the case of a tie. It happened and had no plan. 2. After a plaform update, that took place before an event, caused voting machine issues and the vote had to take place on “X”. I am not a dev or techy, but seems to me that a test for all things should have been performed before hand. It was not last minute, close, but there was time.
The numbers were low for the first two events. The goal was to bring many people into the event and that did not happen. It is too early for something like this. The 400 estimate? is that total or per event? Maybe if it were per event that would be different but impossible. Also, for just 1 event? This is not half of the last grant asked for that was to include 2 seasons. Only one occured because of the revoke. Why $150,000? The marketing on the previous ones was terrible. Try IRL advertising maybe. “X” and Instagram is not where it’s at and paying to have a story written by ones self and be published is shady to me and does not make for a reputable source of information. If you are voting YES, please be sure to really think on this and the value it will bring to Decentraland (or won’t actually). Thank you.

Maybe more community members have to learn basic cost-benefit analysis skills. If you think this $150k grant will bring value, I’m sorry but you have no sense of cost vs value.

Thank you @AaronLeup, you are a true builder that encourages growth and wants the best for the platform. You truly encourage growth and believe in Dcl. You don’t troll or have the crab Mentality. We need more users like you if we really want Dcl to be alive long term. Nepotism isn’t the way. Thanks so much for being a leader and not follower. For many it’s hard to do.However you are doing great!

No, I was not talking about the value, I was talking about my disagreement with revocation based on current rules and requirements, and if you read my comment again: “apart from the proposal being good or bad, cheap or expensive”.

I think we should focus to improve the processes and rules to avoid breaking agreements or apply subjectivity when there is lack of rules to apply a revocation.

But then… I think this conversation can lead to became offtopic.

Despite the fun I had in my involvement in the first Beattrekkers, I do not think DCL needs this right now. It does not bring enough impact for the cost involved.

Here are a few important aspects that I feel are not clear.

After the $150k is spent and the events are over, what has been accomplished?
How does this continue to produce additional content to Decentraland?

Having 2 revoked grants looks really bad. Is the DAO squad not doing their job correctly or was the content not being produced? How will this be different?

I will add between music, poker, and ways to earn NFTs, this seems to be the current most popular versions of fun to the users.

From someone that’s continuing to aim to build a long term product in Decentraland and still gets constant pushback, it is difficult to relate with a 4 month project that may just be gone afterward without another grant.

I mean this in no disrespectful manner. The platform is in a rough state and short term fixes seem to be kicking the can down the road. Personally would like to see more strategies on promotion of products that are continuous and are not reliant on another event to be hosted. Something people can participate in and experience 24/7/365.

Hello there. It’s phuturemusic.

I deeply believe Dr. Oniya is a good person

Yes, we were happy to have a platform to deliver our music, our artist statement, you know.
But comparing the costs, it seems to me now, that artists aren’t the most valuable asset in the game :smirk:

Anyways, you can have all my 100 VP in sign of our friendship

Good luck!

ACTUALLY… YES IT DOES…

did you forget WHY Decentraland was created in the first place?

let me type it for you simply.

DECENTRALAND IS USER-OWNED…

Being an active user DOES mean you know what is best for the platform… :man_facepalming:

THE MATH ISN’T MATHING!

it doesn’t take a PhD to realize the DCLDAO has been socially engineered.

anyone who dares to share the truth will be considered a threat or troll to these scammers who claim to be community leaders.

you also didn’t know Web 3 people could follow your transactions on the blockchain and see you taking liquidity given to you by the dao and exiting to Coinbase…

you also didn’t know your ENS has an expiration date and you told the community you had been hacked.

If you think not logging in to Decentraland for 5 months but claiming that you have logged in but under a different wallet is proof that you’ve been around or that you know what’s good for us then you are doing it wrong. If you think you don’t need to be ACTIVE to know what’s best for my playground then you are doing it wrong. I use it daily.

Why did METATREKKERS leave/disappear after their grant? Why not just continue doing events??? There are many projects that get revoked and keep building and doing events…WHY DID YOU TUCK TAIL AND RUN? I thought MT was gone forever. I knew you were about to disappear it was obvious…that’s why I sold those NFT’s because I saw a semi-rug coming. It is my understanding that GRANTS are not intended to just pay your bills any time you want to do an event in Decentraland. They are to help kick start a good project so that it’s self sustained.

How much money does METATREKKERS need to become self sustained? 10 million dollars? The entirety of the DAO Treasury? $300,000 a year?

Metatrekkers launched an NFT Project that was supposed to be the main focus of the entire thing but it was put on the back burner like it doesn’t exist. Anyone that minted one of these pieces is at a complete loss. It’s there to mint but there’s no push. No hype. What I find crazier is that no one questions this! The entire project was basically rebranded to BEATTREKKERS even though it’s still METATREKKERS, the FOCUS is BEATTREKKERS.

The fact that I was able to dump mine with a 50% loss is a miracle.

The push to mint them out stopped as soon as mint launched. The MT NFT Project itself is a complete flop.

After the flop, the NFT’s became more useless as METATREKKERS basically shelved the project to start BEATTREKKERS and BASSTREKKERS and I was told that other _NAME_TREKKERS ideas were in the works. I was told that the idea was to separate BEATTREKKERS from METATREKKERS.
This makes them even more useless since there has been zero push or incentive to mint one. I am not sure if that has changed but when you start a Web3 project with an NFT collection, that collection becomes the backbone of your project. If you pushed to mint and gave them more utility not only would they mint out but you’d have your own funds to run MT/BT. As a former MT NFT Holder, I minted them on DAY ONE, and since DAY TWO I heard little to no talk about it and zero push to mint it out. When I asked about it the answer I got was not satisfactory with the promise to answer my questions some other time. I never followed up because what’s the point it’s obvious nothing was gonna be done with the NFT’s and so far my assumptions were correct. The only tie between METATREKKERS NFT and BEATTREKKERS is the snapshot voting.

When I made a proposal I was told I had to resubmit it with this over-the-top format that while I was fine doing it, no one else (not even the team member demanding the format) was following the format.

There is so much going on with this team that it becomes convoluted.

It does not feel like this team is a part of the community at all. I never see any of you in world doing anything ever and if you are lurking with a different wallet where no one knows it’s you then guess what? You’re not there.

While there are probably a lot of voters that never log in if you are going to ask for a grant but you think not logging in for 5+ months and dropping a $150,000 request is business as usual that’s weird to me because I thought you quit decentraland.

You got your grant revoked and then you disappeared. Now you’re back asking for more money?

I could not help but notice HPrivakos comment about the $20 server fee but you put down $600, what’s up with that?

I do think that the event itself is a good idea. However; I did not see any added traffic to Decentraland as a result of these events.

I know projects that after revocation they continued to build and do events and be a part of the community. While it is clear to see that MT has a lot of moving parts and the voting booth obviously took some skill and time along with the builds and coordinating which requires a lot of communication – I get it. I just don’t understand why in the last 5 months you’ve done absolutely nothing.

That also means that it shows a lack of support for other projects. It can be extremely difficult to even do that when you’re busy building your own but zero presence?

It would be nice to see METATREKKERS succeed but that includes the NFT project that you made and never talk about.

I voted no because it feels like you’re just gonna take $150k, do your events and then run off until the next time you want $150k or get revoked again…If they took your grant twice already how is this going to be different? I am reading that you only got revoked because of missing information and nothing else. Does this mean that the DAO should have never revoked you? Does this mean that someone didn’t do their jobs correctly when they revoked you? Why couldn’t the missing information be provided immediately so that the revocation didn’t have to happen?

What EXACTLY was the reason for the revocation? Because I heard a lot of different stories.

Thank you @PunkPink . I am glad you see the value and have experienced our events. Yes, you are right, events like these are good for new users. Sorry when you arrived 1 year ago, there weren’t many events, I hope Dcl can be a platform where everyone can come for their virtual experience.

So your team is not competent enough to put together a proposal for hundreds of thousands of dollars, why should anyone think you should deserve a third shot
