More fan mail from my number one fan @ALPHAALVES

I love it please give me more!

Over the past week I’ve witnessed 3 issues in the marketplace regarding the price of goods. This is market manipulation and if we don’t put an end to it, the entire community of Decentraland will suffer the consequences (not really fair to the people putting their blood, sweat, and tears into it)

This proposal adresses the issue at hand, without a doubt, but it also harms the honest creators that are trying to build the community properly. In all honesty, this solution isn’t perfect, but it does put an end to the users of Decentraland from being abused.
Therefore, I have to agree with it.

Mrmookie, you forced this on everyone so you can at least take your arguments to social media and quit blocking the people that have an honest opinion. This is not the place for it.

Unfortunately this will get him more clout than he deserves. :weary:

You told @PeterParker420 to keep the NFT. What are you smokin bro?

Lmao I love this let it all burn down to the ground

Hi @Eibriel and thank you for providing a followup response with your vote.

While I completely appreciate your point, I have to interject that it is not a UX/UI issue, though perhaps you may be onto something. I’ll post a link to a video below where you can see the UI is working as intended. Perhaps a flashing notification that the price has recently been changed in the last 20 minutes would help (something implemented on OSRS MMORPG).

Please watch and decide for yourself if this is market manipulation aimed at tricking others into sales: Twitch

I do agree that a 24 hour cooldown is excessive, so if anyone has an improved suggestion for battling this issue, please speak up.

And as for mr mookie - ty for deleting the hate speech video you made targeted toward me. That was hard to watch.

Thanks for sharing the video. I can see there that the UX is working properly and prevented the user for buying the wearable for a different price than expected.

So no one should’ve lost any money due to the price changes. Looks like is not possible to scam people by rapidly changing prices.

I didn’t realize that was the first person to ever change the price on an NFT. That’s a crime. This whole place is a joke

Hey Guys!!! I got a link for you Mr.mookie. Please see attached as to why we believe that this is necessary.

Highlight: WEDNESDAY!!! !FREE NFTS/WEARABLES DCL FUN!! Stream raiders test!!! #Razerstreamer - Twitch

Instead of a time constraint on price changes, how about adding a sales schedule when updating the price?

Plans for price changes per item can be made more transparent to buyers by communicating the schedule.

An example setup for each item: have a drop list category (giveaway, discount sale, standard sale), start/end date fields, quantity (giveaway cap, discount sale cap), and the planned price change. A price increment could also be toggled with a radio button to include the price change per qty sold.

I’m not sure what options would be possible for trying to transition the prices based on schedule or quantity cap, if it could be automatically changed based on the schedule or if a pause in sales can be triggered until the seller updates the price manually.

Then finally, this info could be displayed on the buy screen, maybe as a countdown timer, quantity counter and some fireworks at the end of giveaways and discount sales. That last bit is to draw attention that the price has changed, while making it a bit fun for a few minutes for any streamers after the last buyer.

Overall, having a sales schedule communicated upfront would align expectations between buyer and seller.

mrmookie does like to change the value of his item fairly quickly… But there is no empathy if one chooses to pay 10 MANA for an item since the site asks to reenter the amount before final purchase. This means one is well aware on what they are paying when finalizing.

What should be not allowed and mrmookie is not the only one that does this is. Mint your own item and sell both in collections and listings at the same time. One tacktic that mrmookie used with the Royal Purple Halo was to increase the price to 10 MANA for the remaining 10 in stock in collection and then he listed in listings at the same time for 1 MANA. This creates a false sense that something is valuable and rush to snap the 1 MANA items.

Kan****** uses the same tacktic, But she uses a secondary account to sell her items in listings.
Not hard to trace where 10-20 items go on a new listing with no recorded sales.

Yasuke did the same with his Bull necklace. His listing in collections got buried so he took to list in listing, and quickly changed his prices to under sell any new cheaper listing of someone trying to resell the necklace.

I second having some time-lapse before one can change the prices again.

Before painting out others as bad guys, consider what some honest reasons for their actions might be. Environments can become toxic when people are led to redirect their frustration on what might be innocent yet misunderstood. Yes, some might be intentionally wrong, some might be honest mistakes, and some might be common practice to help organize for taxes in their country.

Reasons to mint:

  1. Edit button price doesn’t work (mine hasn’t worked on my first collection for over a week, I forgot about minting, new here, thanks for the reminder).
  2. Searching for an agreeable price range without exposing the entire inventory the risk of being raided. Creators should have the right to protect their inventory.

Reason for multiple accounts:
Bookkeeping. Some companies even use separate accounts to budget each sector involved per project.

Reasons for underselling your own product:

  1. Not realizing how future pricing will be affected by the limited supply. Owners can drive up price on resell because of the limited supply. It’s more lucrative to get in on the price action.
  2. Wanting to keep price low to share with as many as possible because artists because having their art appreciated is more important than money. Once inventory is depleted, owners can drive up prices, it’s their freedom. Until then, art for the masses.
  3. Starving artist, food wanted.

Back to the main topic,
To remain fair and unbiased, optimal solutions would aim for two things: 1) retaining honest individuals (both customers and creators) and 2) preventing abuse and accidents.

Another solution is to add in a circuit breaker, when price is changed, automatically halt transactions for 5 minutes. This would allow creators time to also think and not panic, then revise to their final price if needed while transactions are halted. This safety measure is used in the stock market for extremely fast-moving stocks. A few minutes is a more tolerable time period and it’s aimed to protect both parties.

Why a 24 hr time-lapse for price change is a bad idea:

  1. A buyer can accidentally buy just as prices change after the time-lapse, still making the creator the bad guy. Even if it’s unintentional, it becomes personal to the buyer.
  2. Exposure for entire inventory to risk of being emptied out if price is set too low, being scammed out of their inventory due to pressure.
In the end, this will drive out honest creators who were left feeling taken advantage of, meanwhile dishonest scammers will look for another way to scam.

Why updating the appearance on the UI might be a good idea:
Questions asked when I first started creating UI’s for a company,

  1. What information is priority and how to convey it concisely?
  2. Does the most important information grab customers attention or is it indistinguishable from other fields or prompts?
  3. How can customers break it?
  4. When troubleshooting, does the solution solve the issue or is it a band aid that will ultimately disappoint and risk driving away customers?

Did you see that guy’s house? wow I would be mad too if I was living like that lmao

5 votes say no, love this DAO function. Can’t wait till they implement something better than VP this is some garbage. The market needs more safeguards to protect buyers, as a creator I hate to hear when my community gets scammed. UNFAIR DECISIONS smh damn near should make it go back into review if you want to change price for reasons like this. (For these accounts that are rapidly altering price within a set timeframe) scamming safeguard? Ruining it for the rest of the community. Much love to all the respectable creators and streamers in the DCL community!! <3 #BlazeSquad

You aren’t the first person to ever change price, but you have literally been caught actively changing price when people were purchasing for 0 mana. Hopefully Titan got his mana back </3 #HotGarbage

It’s well within my rights to change the price when ever I see fit. @BlazinMazon you should learn how to mint or find a life. I don’t feel bad for stupid people being stupid
