Introduction

We are on track and with the help of our beta testers we are very close to finishing most of the features for the In World Builder. Thank you so much to all of our closed beta testers who have helped us get to this point through bug finding and user feedback! We invite everyone to join us during our upcoming DCL DAO Town Hall on February 8th in addition to our #WorldStorming Spaces on Friday, February 9th! We will be showcasing our latest Builder updates, answer any questions!

Highlights

Our 3D team created our IWB wearable, which will be given to those who compete in our In World Builder competitions. Our builder competitions will be starting in February, so be on the lookout for an announcement soon on the exact dates! Over 300 3D objects were created this past month. We now have a total of over 1,500 3D objects created out of our planned 1,800 for our In World Builder. Over 350 2D thumbnail renders were completed for 3D assets in the past month.

Our coding team implemented a number of new features, in addition to tackling bugs to make the In World Builder experience more smooth and stable. 2D objects now have collisions in build mode but then in playmode it is determined by the collision component. The ability to Export/Download zip files of scenes has been added for players to keep copies of their scenes. Editing flags were added to entities so multiple people couldn’t edit the same object at one time. Component schemas were moved away from the scene file and to their own file. Components & listeners were moved to their own files. Actions, Triggers, and Trigger area assets have been added as well. Builders can now add multiple triggers and actions when hovering over an object. Trigger areas allow actions to happen like playing a sound, or an animation such as a door opening when a player enters the desired trigger area. Trigger areas can be linked to different object triggers for IFTTT-like functionality. Over 360 Audio assets are now available in the Assets Catalog. The option for custom audio assets has been added to the custom asset uploader. Added the “Information” UI button where players can now add spawn locations within each scene in addition to changing the parcels within an existing scene by adding or removing parcels.

Our marketing team created an In World Builder competition flier for our upcoming Build competition with prizes that include $MANA and our very own IWB builder wearable! We held 2 Worldstorming live AMA building sessions with beta testers to answer questions and get feedback from the community to improve IWB. These Worldstorming sessions were held on Twitter spaces and streamed to Youtube as well. Our twitter (X) videos have earned over 3,200 views to date. Our tweets have garnered over 1,400 likes, 601 retweets and 216 replies as of 1/18/2024. We have earned over 50,000 total impressions across our twitter posts.

Our Audio team created over 30 new sounds this month, focusing on sounds to be used for our IWB User Interface and User Experience. We now have sample sounds implemented in the builder to get user feedback and input.

Our User Interface and User Experience team selected and added test sounds to add for the IWB UI and User experience. We have also started our video tutorial series, which already has over 12 videos to help users with IWB functionality. These Videos guide users step-by-step to use specific functions or accomplish certain tasks with the Builder and the videos will be able to be found in our IWB settings menu under the “Help” tab.

Blockers

Nft frames are not currently showing NFTs due to current DCL limitations, but In World builders can use “Images” or “3D objects” of their NFTs and then add a link to a marketplace for buyers to purchase or reference. (The current estimated fix from the Foundation is 3-4 months out)

Next steps

We will finalize the functionality of the toolset, including the ability to export directly to DCL land or WCL worlds. We will also be focusing on any additional bugs that haven’t been addressed or that come up. Final touches on the user interface and user experience will be made for launch. Our 3D team continues to create assets in addition to the In World Builder Lobby. Our public MVP version started with our public beta test during testing Tuesday with the Grant Support Squad on January 30th.

We had the monthly meeting with the grantee. The project is on track and progressing very well; in fact, they have added functionalities beyond those promised in the original roadmap. In this last month, they will continue refining the product and thinking about v02.
Regards!
