[DAO:ca6pjru] Temple

I slipped in your game some months ago, when the first testing started for wearable owners (even though I didn’t have a wearable ), all I could think was “Why Decentraland needs a RUNNING game?”

Hi, 24h have passed since grant proposal was submited, since then we have had 179 daily active users (DAU) and currently Temple game is 5th on trending page

You are right but it also comes from DAO.

I love the concept, I’m just not a fan of wearables submissions or LAND purchase with DAO funds. It’s bad for DAO to set precedents like this, I understand it’s the revenue model but look at it this way…

DAO (community) funds this then community must purchase wearables at a “premium price” (however much that is) so at the end the community has to purchase the product they also funded to have developed or submitted.

The expectation is not that many will have to purchase it as they all will be items that can be claimed with crafting or quest rewards and will have utility that boosts player stats, the idea is that each purchase will be a direct support to the project execution and it will allow us to keep publishing new items, it is seen as seperate community support mechanism for the amazing designs and experiences that will be built

@TempleGame sorry, I think you might have missed my questions. Are you using other Game Jam participant/winners code or is this just from you entry? From what I saw on parcel, there was more than just your entry.

Yes, but only market UI prompt and food count UI prompt as a base was used and they even had to be updated to fit our specific project needs, it was done to arrive at the MVP concept faster, everything else is designed from scratch by our team and as mentioned in proposal everything in UI will be redesigned with new matching art.
Those UI prompts are open-source and we even went the extra mile to ask the original author @Shiny if she would like to see the UI prompts in our concept project that is already launched.
Temple Games has maintained community interest and we have been in the Top 10 featured locations since the launch. Come join the Party at -69,30!

New visual UI updates - player level display and link to how to play video guide was added that links to https://twitter.com/MetaTempleGame/status/1568298849659228161

I was under the impression you did not ask permission to use Shiny’s gamejam submission, and that is why I originally voted no. I see they have expressed their support now, and I am willing to change my vote to YES. However I have one request if you would like me to do this.

Please add your code back to the GitHub gamejam repository. By removing the code you are in violation of Competition Guideline #5:

If you don’t want to make your code open source, that is fine, but you should return the prizes you recieved for winning.

Thank you!

The foundation said that “It’s not something that will disqualify entries from the competition if they don’t” share the code…

Also the project was open-source and available for everyone initially, but now we have updated it to Temple Game.

That’s fine. Thanks for answering my question. I respect your decision but my vote will remain no.

And we respect your decision.
Would still love to see you come check out the Temple and hear the feedback on the existing concept project user experience.

I visited yesterday and played for a bit. I find it fun and almost addictive. (the farming aspect specifically) From a UX perspective there were a couple bugs or perhaps challenges is a better word. It took some getting used to, but once you get the controls and actions down it does not detract from the overall concept.

Regarding the combat portion, I really couldn’t figure that out, and I didn’t spend a lot of time trying as I was more focused on getting the watermelon harvest. I’ll check it out again soon. I did speak with a friend @ZESTYBEAM about the combat and he mentioned that the ‘E’ and ‘F’ commands don’t actually work for combat. I’m not sure if this will be changed in the future, but I think it would be a good idea. Having to click on the buttons for combat is not desirable from a UX perspective, as you first have to right-click to keep your arrow still.

Overall I do like the concept and I wish you luck with the development and this grant.

Yes @ZESTYBEAM suggested to just use ‘E’ and ‘F’ keyboard press for combat without the need to also use left mouse click to activate the attack and it can be done. Mouse would be used to just aim then.

We love to hear the feedback from our community and will use the suggestions to improve the overall experience and create best combat experience.
Our goal is to gather as much feedback as possible on the concept and we will take this update into consideration. We do not want to impair player movement when there will be a need to avoid incoming arrows and magic attacks and that could hapen if there are too many keyboard actions.

I’ll get your proposal approved if you send me the VPs of those parcels. @SinfulMeatStick

I’m voting Yes. I tried the game and seems fun, with some unique mechanics.

There are similar games in Decentraland, but RPG is a genre well suited for DCL, and I’m sure there is enough people willing to play them.
