[DAO:9586b5c] Metaverzus Season funding

Thank you for those honest words. On every angle. I strive every day to be better while building this vision. I am already excited to keep building, no matter the outcome, the love is what I see. That gives me good energy to move forward and have fun while building something that will help humanity on a small scale. Metaverzus is a smaller part of a bigger picture. One Love

Thank you for your support. Excited to reveal 2023 to everyone, we have some fun things planned with the $RAP eco system.

Thank you for your vote of confidence. Also thank you for the encouragement. I am excited for the future of Metaverzus and everything we work on daily. Providing equal access into web3 is a passion I am excited to see through. I have some wonderful souls around me. Let’s keep growing. One Love

I vote based on whether I think what’s being proposed brings value to dcl or it’s community, it hasn’t been done before (for more technical stuff like VR and such) or if I believe DAO funds are best used in the proposed form.

I mainly focus on development/engagement within DCL not Twitter drama. Please keep me out of this.

of course. I decided not to even look at the voter list, instead at the total percentage. Thank you for participating in any way

Being this event is hosted in Decentral Games casinos and contributes in theory to their weekly traffic as being entertainment for players of their casino, I don’t believe the DCL DAO should have to bear the cost for weekly entertainment at their casinos. If this event was run more broadly across Decentraland and could be proven to contribute to onboarding/retaining a weekly amount of new players I would reconsider the value of this event as a marketing tool, but even then the current rate is quite high when most of the funds will be used as contest prizes. Unfortunately experiences like this are currently difficult to run in DCL as there is no real way to recoup the amount funding needed to put them on without finding sponsorship by either the DAO or private orgs like Decentral Games, unlike your ability generate revenue by selling tickets and drinks at IRL events. It is however not sustainable to expect the DAO to support event funding for events that cant show direct measurable growth to DCL’s daily active users.

Also, this is in no way a criticism of the content you create as I’m not sure I have even attended one of your events, but DG should bear the cost to keep these contests running in their casino if they would like. I would suggest applying on the DG DAO for a grant from them.

Appreciate your honest opinion, thanks for sharing it so I can understand reasons people may feel this is not a good fit.

I would like to let know know that some of the things you mentioned are not correct. Most of the funds would be going to DCL wearable creators for prizes, which would help the DCL wearable eco system. The other majority of funds would’ve went to paying artists. We have onboarded dozens of artists, from teaching them how to get a wallet, how to see their wearable prizes (Which is a create on-boarding mechanism) as well as have them participate in a event inside DCL. The events are not DG events, they are currently held in DG because their partnership helped us with streaming.

Honestly, just looking to see what community recognizes our value before we expand, this way we can contribute to the platforms that appreciate the work we do in bringing brand new web3 users into their eco-system through creative onboarding. Which is what Meta-Verzus essentially is

Can you provide any data to support the new users you have brought into the Decentraland community outside of the djs that participate in the events? Its hard to support a budget of this size for an event that has mainly been hosted in DG casinos and has no way to measure the actual traffic draw to the event itself. @tangpoko mentioned above that marketing this event to the broader DCL community would probably do a lot to benefit your case. If you were to host your event in a separate venue from something like DG you would be able to see a more measurable model of your userbase vs the one that is currently tainted by the DG casino traffic. Not to say that being in the DG casino is bad for your exposure, but this makes it difficult to see if its worth investing in the development of not just your events but also a supporting off platform dapp.

Honestly I would rather see funding going towards developing out the dapp more fully and opening up this service to decentraland users to use in their plots or experiences for other voting purposes, perhaps even for a subscription fee. Maybe this could be a more successful angle for you to at least complete a portion of the project or a way for you to break the grant into multiple steps, one for dapp dev and a separate one for the event portion. We could also start at a single month of a single league which artist funding could be completely covered by the third lowest grant tier with $1000 left to spare for prizes and streaming. I understand this wouldn’t be your ideal outcome, but food for thought.

Building out the dapp and making it available for DCL is a great idea. I would let people use it for free if that was the case.

As for Tangpoko’s suggestion, we are already doing this. We have invited several DCL musicians to participate, we have invited DCL staples like Milito and Pixelia to host, we have also stated that the prized will be wearables that are purchased from DCL creators. I am not involved in any of Tangpokos initiatives however that doesn’t make it non DCL centred. The event is happening in DCL, not in a metaverse that is owned by DG, therefore the 38 people here are counted among the DG goers (haha, just a joke, we more than 38) - How else do we centre this around dcl? It doesn’t make sense to me. We do not stick to our inner circle of DCL friends, we bring music to the DG community so we can bridge the gap between the community.

As for the season, the season runs for 3 months, so funding artists from a portion of the season seems unfair and we will not do that.

Let’s talk about onboarding metrics, what metrics should I share? I am not sure what you want to see, suggest something to me and I will dig up the data. However, its common sense that when people participate on dcl for the first time and receive wearables, they must learn how to get a wallet, log onto dcl and equip their avatar with the wearable. Which is what happens.

Truth is, I was taking 0$ from this budget, only artists and wearable creators would of gotten paid, fixing the dapp is what wouldve helped, however I will fix this DPP with or without this grant and will continue to throw META-VERZUS events. I will either pay out of pocket when feasible or find creative ways to get funding for the artists. The artist comes first, thats what this grant was actually about. We dont have funds to pay BJORK, plus if we did, we would pay indie artists first.

Any suggestions in what else I can show you would be great, however season 2 is almost wrapped up, season 3 will be love in 2023 and we will grow independently of DCL if we have to. We appreciate all the honest feedback and want to say thank you for your time.

Cheers

Metaverzus Season funding

This proposal is now in status: REJECTED.

Voting Results:

  • Yes 35% 753,214 VP (70 votes)
  • No 65% 1,380,086 VP (22 votes)

70 people voted yes, 20 voted no. This makes me feel the community wants us here, this makes me feel that we won the vote. The funds may have not been granted, which means DCL and web3 musicians will not be getting paid and wearable creators will not be getting paid. However we will continue with season 3. For the 70 that voted yes, please follow me on Twitter so you can stay updated on our plans. https://twitter.com/KingMizoMadeIt

Excited to keep building for a more inclusive web3, cheers
