Introduction
Hello from the Ambassadors Program, Kim, Gino, and Canessa. The Ambassadors are wrapping up the final events of this grant, and have a lot to report this month!
Highlights
Hancos and Kenji hosted an event in Tokyo on April 19th, in conjunction with NEO NFT Motorsports project. They had a booth with information about Decentraland and swag for users to win. They used video from previous automobile companies in Decentraland, and targeted motorsports enthusiasts. The event had 180 attendees in person, and 150 users tuned in online.
LeonardC held an event on March 20th in Hong Kong where he introduced new users to Decentraland. He walked them through the process of setting up their accounts and basic navigation of DCL. He is following up this event with another one today (April 26th) which will show users a more in depth snapshot of Decentraland, where he will focus on play to earn games and wearables.
Atrovenado has completed his two required events, and is now setting up more events in Sao Paulo, Brasil.
Manish Kumar hosted an event at the Chitkara University in Himachal Pradesh, India. The university focuses on engineering and art design, and he had 60 attendees. He will follow this event up with another workshop on April 28th where he will discuss Decentraland in more depth.
MetaRyuk had an opportunity to speak with the government of Singapore on April 21st. He spoke about the benefits of the metaverse with the focus on the financial institutions of banking in Southeast Asia. MetaRyuk is planning in second Ambassador event in May, where he will host another onboarding workshop.
MrDhingia is working to host his two events in Dubai. Due to the recent flooding, he has experienced delays in securing a venue.
Pablo and Javi are scheduling their events in Valenica, Spain. They have one on May 9th that will introduce experienced software developers to Decentraland. This is followed up by a second meeting on May 10th that will be a workshop for developers to further their knowledge of the space.
Skat Lionrock is hosting her second event on May 1st in London, UK, at the DoubleTree Hotel. She has a panel of experienced metaverse users who will answer questions around their specific skill area. This is a hybrid event, with the IRL event being streamed into Decentraland in a new build created for onboarding new users.
Due to time constraints in her schooling, Cheddar Queso is unable to fulfill her two events, and has opted to leave the Ambassador program. She has been speaking with the faculty at her college to set up events in the fall when it is more convenient for students to join clubs/meetings. We look forward to what she can do!
Paul Yong has experienced challenges finding internet cafes in Malaysia who can host his events, and has also opted to leave the program. He is working hard showcasing Decentraland on YouTube, and streams in-world content regularly. We encourage everyone to continue to support Paul in his YouTube endeavors!
Blockers
We have found a few set-backs in local vicinities that we are learning from, ie… unexpected flooding in Dubai, venues being difficult to rent in Malaysia, working around worldwide religious events/holidays, colleges being too busy during final quarters of schooling, etc. In the future we can better predict when some of these setbacks will be occurring and schedule around them (except for natural disasters like flooding).
Next steps
Each Ambassador will be hosting their events and returning their receipts and feedback by the end of this grant cycle (May 15th). For Ambassadors who are unable to meet the 2 meeting requirement, they will be returning the $450 paid out by the DAO (If Ambassadors are only able to complete 1 meeting, they will return half of this sum, $225)
Once we have all feedback from events (including their reports, receipts, photos, and videos) we will compile them into a comprehensive report for the DAO and community to review. We have learned a lot from this pilot program, what has worked well, what we could improve, and we are excited to share these findings with everyone passionate about the Decentraland ecosystem.
Roadmap: The Ambassador program has conducted 10 official events over 7 different countries. 9 more events are planned to occur in the next 3 weeks. The overall cost of the program thus far is $13,416.00. This is lower than anticipated, as some events had little or no fee included with them (colleges/local meet-ups). We anticipate coming in well under the budget for this project, and at that time will return the unused sum to the DAO/Foundation equally.
