The Ethereum Blockchain cannot be stopped

A Blockchain is a Decentralized Public Ledger.

Due to its nature, it is extremely resistant to corruption.

And as long as there are people who agree to keep running its protocol, it will go on forever…

The Ethereum Blockchain can even run code !
This “smart-contract” functionality has been very much developed now.
And it is the basis for a large number of crypto-projects.

Decentraland is one of them.

The Decentraland Protocol is being kept alive through the power of the Blockchain.

Long-Live the Blockchain !

Sorry, you are wrong my friend. ETH is highly centralized. DYOR

It all looks good but I have two major concerns.

1- Delegation Transitivity. I am totally against this formula because the VP is not the village bicycle where everyone takes a free ride.

2 - Delegating VP to someone is like choosing to vote the same. No because my delegate may choose to vote freely. This whole sentence doesn’t make sense. If I enforce my delegate to vote exactly like how I would, why delegate in the first place? Does this not defeat the purpose of delegating?

Tourism is a profitable industry & Country of Decentraland. Dude you really need to take your medication.

Your concerns are very valid. It is ever so clear that, as Jefferson put it, the price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance !

But just like with DCL, the situation can still be salvaged, as suggested in this Feb 2024 blog post: Is Ethereum in danger of becoming Centralised? A Closer Look - Bitfinex blog

And in this Oct 2024 article: Vitalik Buterin lays down roadmap to minimize centralization risk in Ethereum POS design

  1. Agreed. But one can also say it is not an “awards system”, which some seem to think should be used to “reward those who deserve it”.
VP represents “decision-power”, and truly should be delegated to those who are trusted to seek to make the right decisions with it.

  2. I did not write “Delegating VP to someone is like ordering them to vote the same as you”.
I wrote Delegating VP to someone is like _choosing to vote the same_ as them !
This is the actual purpose of delegating, in order to unburden yourself from the responsibility of voting when you will just not have the time or ability to do so yourself.
What you do at that point, is to find someone whom you believe will help get the right decisions passed.
You essentially say “I will let you tell my VP how to vote, I trust you”.
Statistically, on average, this trust will be warranted.
And if it turns out to not be, you can always take back your VP !
