[DAO:ff56bbe] Windfall Lotto Scene Framework for Decentraland

by 0x00f9cee757c61ecffe226b0fc3f75b6e02c03ac9 (JoeTheOne)

I’d like to propose a modular Windfall Lotto Scene that any land owner can deploy in Decentraland.

The goal is to provide:

A fun, low-risk lottery experience for players

A simple revenue model for hosts

A reusable scene template creators can customize

Full transparency on draws and winners

The jackpot and tickets are denominated in MANA.

This proposal is for community feedback first, to see if this concept is technically and socially acceptable before moving further.

:bullseye: Goals

Create a ready-to-deploy Lotto Scene where:

Players buy tickets using MANA

Hosts receive a fixed percentage from ticket sales

Weekly draw events distribute jackpots automatically

Tickets are NFTs and freely transferable

Creators can customize parameters when hosting the scene

:puzzle_piece: Core Mechanics (Default Parameters, Editable by Hosts)

These are defaults, every scene owner can change them:

Ticket System

Example pricing:

1 MANA = 5 tickets (fully configurable)

Tickets are NFTs if possible

Total supply example: 1,000,000 pre-minted tickets

Tickets can be transferred between players

Host Revenue

Host receives 10% of ticket purchases

If a ticket is transferred and later wins:

Original ticket owner (only the first buyer, can be transferred to many wallets) receives 10% of that winner’s payout

:video_game: Player Rules (Default Parameters, Editable by Hosts)
Number Selection

Each ticket contains 5 numbers

Numbers range: 0-99

Numbers do not need to be unique

:stopwatch: Draw Logic (Weekly Event)

Every week:

5 winning numbers are generated

Prize distribution follows a windfall cascade:

Windfall Structure

If 5 matches → jackpot shared between all 5-match winners

If no 5 matches → fall back to 4 matches

If no 4 matches → fall back to 3 matches

If still no winners:

Jackpot rolls over to next week

All payouts are in MANA.

:framed_picture: In-Scene Gallery

Each scene contains a public gallery showing:

Winning numbers

Winners’ wallet addresses / Names / Profiles

Dates of draws

History displayed for the last 30 draws.

This keeps everything transparent and verifiable.

:busts_in_silhouette: Target Audience
Players

Anyone who wants to play lotto with relatively small risk

Casual users looking for weekly entertainment

Hosts / Creators

Land owners wanting an easy-to-deploy scene

Creators looking for passive income mechanics

Community organizers running events

:person_walking: General User Journey

Player enters lotto scene

Buys NFT ticket(s) with MANA

Picks 5 numbers

Waits for weekly draw

Checks gallery for results

Winners automatically receive MANA minus fees and bonus for the ticket buyer

:brain: Why This Matters

This system would:

Add a repeatable gameplay loop to Decentraland

Incentivize creators to build simple interactive scenes

Encourage social participation around weekly events

Create a plug-and-play economic mini-game for land owners

:red_question_mark: Community Questions

Before moving forward, I’d love feedback on:

Is this technically feasible within current Decentraland SDK + DAO rules?

Would NFT-based transferable lotto tickets be acceptable?

Does the revenue model feel fair?

Would creators actually deploy something like this?

Any regulatory or DAO concerns?

This a YES from me. I would even know how to promote it to outside Decentraland community which would help with our growth. I did daily vids where I would invite everyone to chance to share my winnings with me and sometimes would get hundreds of participants all outside of web3. I tried to get something going with the Casinos while they were still live in Decentraland but sadly the left right before we closed on something. So if this leads to something like this I def down and def can help if needed.

It’s good to explore new ideas. I’m not sure this needs to be passed through a DAO proposal, but it’s one way to get user sentiment. You would definitely need to answer a lot of the questions above, especially around regulations. A lot of jurisdictions would not allow gambling like this and would likely require KYC. Good luck!
