Changing my vote to no, Let’s keep the regular star until we can find a way to correctly recognize these iconic builds (Legacy POI with an explanation).
An in game ui that could take users on a tour of the builds that built Decentraland would be nice
there should be more rules around removing a POI .
It’s hard to get a POI and easy to lose one.
Especially if the owner is not here to defend their project.
Someone should always ping the person… (Mine was removed without ping)
Hi everyone. It was not my intention to assume reasons for SC ending operations. However, the fact remains that, SC stopped participating in Decentraland immediately after the grant ended. This has been a topic of discussion amongst those of us whom have continued to participate in pushing the DAO forward, and creating, despite the grants pause and low DAU. If we are to highlight those who left the community when the money dried out, we should do so, regardless of legacy status, or personal relationships. Everyone should receive the same treatment. Regarding the POI, these yellow stars are highlighted to our visitors as places of interest, and I do not believe it is in our best interest to highlight inactive builds managed by folks who don’t participate in our ecosystem. As always, I will support whatever decision the community makes, but maintain that we should treat all scenes and land managers equally. Cheers.
Thank you for the response. I agree that SC participation and longevity should be taken into account, however, when considering a POI star, I am looking at it strictly from the point of view that these are the first places that our new visitors will go to, places that we as a community are encouraging them to see. If the build is not active, there are no events, the person managing the build has deleted their account in the DAO, and no longer participating, I do not believe we should point users to this location. If the activity returns, if there is something continuous and interesting for our new visitors to experience, then I would be happy to reinstate a POI. I did not notify you prior to making this post because I left the Discord a while back and you left our community.
Respectfully, I am not framing anything. You left the Discord, deleted your DAO account and stopped creating in Decentraland when your grant ended a year ago… the build has been inactive since then… and this is the reason for my request to remove the POI. The fact is new visitors are looking thru the POI’s for “What to do in decentraland” and are running into empty buildings with nothing to do inside. According to the discussions we’ve had as a community over the last several months this is not reflective of the kind of engagement we are looking for, or the first impression that we want our new visitors to have. Giving inactive scenes and creators special treatment because they are “legacy” is not in the best interest of Decentraland’s growth and image, and it undermines the work of active creators who are still creating and building. The fact that I was part of SC is also irrelevant and I don’t have a responsibility to notify you. Finally, I am not interested in a contest of “who’s been here longest”. However, I accept your challenge. I have been here for 3 years, active on a daily basis, and contributing in multiple areas, non-stop, despite low DAU, toxicity and accusations made against my person, without compensation… my priorities have not changed… see you in another 4 years.
No apology was made… Just a string of words that justify the actions and repeating the same rhetoric…
Im not on anyones side here but this ends with 1 word instead of keep bringing up this thread…
Unless cheddar is not sorry… then just say that also…
Why does an apology need to be made when someone has simply expressed their opinion? Cheddar did not offend anyone she simply said how she feels. If you don’t agree with that opinion then that’s fine, no one is asking for your apology because you expressed your opinion. I am so confused right now.
This is not a simple expression of opinion. We have an instigator and a victim.
If there are some aspects that are unintentional. Then an apology is generally given along side the comment but itstead it was assumed with a “however”… Which assumes that the stance was intentional…
Why would anyone need to consult another person prior to expressing their own opinion? Cheddar does need to apologize, nor do I believe there is an instigator or a victim. She simply put a request to remove a POI because it is not active. BTW, I voted to not remove because it may be a legacy POI. The intentional stance is obvious, Cheddar submitted a request via DAO votes to remove a POI. Again, no apology is required as she did not personally offend anyone.
