Should the following $58,450 grant in the Sponsorship category be approved?

We propose to showcase Decentraland at Diverge 5-day IRL pop-up store during Paris Fashion Week (September 2023) in order to increase Metaverse awareness and onboard new users to the platform through digital fashion use cases. The upcoming event will aim to create a bridge between traditional and Metaverse fashion, introduce the Metaverse and its unique opportunities to new audiences and ultimately onboard new Decentraland users.

The 1st day of the pop-up will be the opening event with an opportunity to meet with media, influencers, experienced DCL users & digital fashion leaders, expand perspectives and enjoy the experiences of the pop-up. All activations and experiences will be accessible at the pop-up within a 5-day period.

Diverge is a digital fashion brand that creates high-end wearables for virtual realities. It has been featured in major media such as Vogue Business, Vogue Taiwan, CNN, ELLE and Hypebae, has collaborated with digital fashion projects such as DressX and Artisant, and physical fashion brand Sinead Gorey that wore Cardi B, Miley Cyrus, Sita Bellan etc.

Our DCL experience has been nothing short of incredible, from creating wearable collections in collaboration with some of the most prominent designers to hosting successful events. Check out our presentation to see what we’ve already accomplished in the space: Diverge x DCL presentation

Problem that we solve:
There are many people willing to explore, communicate, create, and collaborate. Metaverse is a new way to approach these things and provides a novel platform for self-expression. However, they lack knowledge and understanding how to interact with decentralized virtual worlds, why is it beneficial and how to access these opportunities.
We aim to increase awareness, onboard new users to the platform, educate individuals to discover the possibilities of this Metaverse, so that they can unleash their full potential, communicate, collaborate and create something truly remarkable and become permanent community members.
We are committed to contribute to the mass adoption and build the bridge between IRL and Metaverse and also strengthen the relationship between traditional fashion and the Metaverse.

𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 & 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀:

  1. Increase awareness and visibility for Decentraland

  • Establish relations with high-profile Instagram, TikTok and Twitter influencers and motivate them to create and share content about the event and the Metaverse; (such as Sita Bellan, Celine Beraerts, Estelle Eliot, Katie One and more. )
  • Create buzz and generate coverage in major business, fashion and lifestyle media (such as Vogue Business, Hypebae, ELLE, Forbes etc.)

  1. Onboard new audiences on the platform.

  • Showcase the in-world journey of the DCL avatar on a big display across the most exciting locations in DCL and present how to style it with some of the best DCL fashion designs;
  • Engage with the visitors IRL with immersive and engaging experiences using VR, AR and other cutting-edge technologies;
  • Empower creators, artists and innovators by hosting educational panels and potentially create new job opportunities and onboard creators in DCL; Q&A sessions with experienced users;
  • Free wearable airdrop for every visitor to incentivize visit the platform to try-on it;
  • A special after-party in DCL for the new onboarded audience;
  • Present NFC-chipped physical clothing collection with a chance to claim a DCL wearable;

Diverge Pop-Up presentation

I love Diverge, but it seems like we haven’t seen you active in Decentraland for quite a while. The last wearable you published was 8 months ago, on September 27th, 2022 and your most recent emote was published on October 26th 2022.

Can you please share with us:
What your brand has done in Decentraland since then?
What do you have planned in Decentraland moving forward?

I believe you had a strong start to the digital fashion world last fall when you started publishing wearables and emotes in Decentraland, but I would prefer to support brands who show consistent building throughout the entire year.

If I am incorrectly informed, I’d be happy to reconsider my vote.

I am voting YES for this proposal. Not many sponsorship initiatives were submitted for the quarter, especially for large-scale events in fashion. This sounds like a great opportunity to obtain exposure for Decentraland. With Diverge’s work in digital fashion, Decentraland advertised at Paris Fashion week would be beneficial, and honestly should be included in MORE “real life” Fashion related events (& that goes for all metaverse events too…). It would be great to see our highly talented wearable curators/creators be a part of the panel/experience as well, as well as in the months leading up to this event. Should this grant pass, I look forward to the updates leading up to the event, but encourage more digital fashion awareness involvement in Decentraland.

@Canessa From my perspective, Diverge had was involved in MVFW this year, as well as the Music Festival. They also host digital fashion twitter spaces, which Ive actually joined in on a few & networked with a few new individuals interested in Decentraland.

Best of Luck!

Hi, @Canessa Thank you for your thoughts and questions. I’d be happy to answer them:

  1. Since our last wearable and emote release, Diverge has been actively participating in various DCL events and activities, many of which were initiated by our brand. We recently hosted a contest during the MVFW’23 event that encouraged DCL community members to explore different locations such as TRU Band Room, Bverse, DressX, Uniqly, and Crystal City. Participants had to find our banner in these locations, take a picture with it, and receive prizes. We received over 100 submissions and rewarded everyone who participated with Emotes for 1-4 banners and a Leeloo wearable for all 5 banners. During MVFW’23 Di (Diverge founder) was also participating in the panel discussion for the Uniqly event in collab with PunksClub.

While we are limited in our ability to release many wearables due to the amount of effort and skills required to create unique designs, we are constantly improving our skills and will soon release more wearables and emotes. However, our primary mission in DCL is not just to create but also to explore the space and assist others on their journey. Thus, we strive to raise awareness of DCL and onboard new users through social media challenges and contests where the community can win our DCL wearables and emotes. As our community consists of many fashion enthusiasts, they are always eager to explore new spaces where fashion plays a major role. Since 2022, we have made over 2500+ Fashionista Emotes airdrops to new users, helping them join the space.Additionally, at the end of last year, we opened our first space in DCL at the Crystal City location (-1;51), where we showcased our creations and hosted a successful event to unveil the Crystal City location and Diverge space. We also organized several activities, including contests, emote giveaways, and social media activations. Our event in DCL received strong media coverage, featuring in Yahoo! News, REW, Fortune, and Design Boom.

  1. Moving forward, we plan to create more wearables that embody our high fashion aesthetic in DCL. We take pride in our design process, which may take longer than expected, but ensures we deliver exceptional products and experiences. Alongside this, we also intend to develop a game that will allow users to interactively learn and explore fashion, providing valuable prizes. This game will feature not only Diverge but other prominent DCL designers and brands. We’d be happy to share more information about the game as soon as we confirm the concept and will be ready for the creation process.
    Let us know if you have any additional questions!
