[DAO:5f37c6d] Decentraland Official 2023 Phygital TShirt & Wearable Design Contest + IRL Event

You choose to side step my 2 main points and are focusing on the part that I clearly started was my opinion. I don’t believe you are looking for healthy discussion, I feel you are here just trying to debate whatever flaws you find in what I say for personal reasons.

I am going to move on for now though, I am glad we could agree on a few things . Have a good night

“They cost $10-15 WITH THE DESIGN INCLUDED” =)
I might vote yes if a proposal is charging a good price for tshirts, but your proposal still isn’t even after slighly bumping the number of tshirts.

I guess if you want to make it personal with me now, that’s your choice. But I didn’t sidestep anything.

is there something specific?

I asked you to clarify what you meant.

If you can’t give an example of anything shady the team did, I think you should edit your post and apologize.

It appears as though many have not read the full proposal (the link to our full proposal has been clicked only 3 times, 2 of which have been by our team).

This project consists of:

a. A design contest where graphic designers within the community will design what they would like the official DCL phygital t-shirt to look like
b. An in-world voting event for the DCL community to vote on their favorite t-shirt design and 3D modeler/animator to create the limited-edition wearable version of it
c. An IRL event hosted in a major city in the US where we will partner with a web3/tech leader to talk about DCL and distribute the t-shirt to community members along with newly onboarded users. Our audience will consist of tech enthusiasts, graphic designers, and other digital artists.
d. Distribution of t-shirts to DCL community members such as:

i. Event attendees
ii. DCL Foundation members
iii. Elected members of the DAO
iv. Project participants and leaders (i.e., hosts, artists, etc.)
v. Contest promoters

e. A 3D modeler/animator will convert the winning design into a limited-edition wearable and sold on the DCL marketplace.

i. 50% of the proceeds are going back to the DAO
ii. 20% to the winning designer
iii. 20% to the winning developer
iv. 10% to Ennova to help with sustainability efforts

f. An article in a major business/tech/web3 publication to promote DCL by sharing information about the project as well as the platform. This will also be an opportunity to share the work and success of the designer and developers chosen by the community.

One BIG thing you all are missing is we are going to solicit 3D modelers/animators as well as graphic designers to create a wearable for DCL. We keep hearing content is a gap - here is one of the solutions! These are the roles that can help build and create in DCL. As a reminder, wearables are 90% of DCL’s revenue.

Let us also edify the community here on the process of this project. We will be soliciting talent from ALL OVER THE GLOBE. We are posting the event on various platforms such as Behance, Dribbble, ArtStation, Pinterest, DeviantArt, LinkedIn, Indeed, Monster, fiverr, Upwork, and Online Jobs, just to name a few. We have a powerful brand here. Graphic designers from around the world will be excited to participate, not just for the chance to win the prize money, but also to be able to say they designed the official 2023 phygital t-shirt for Decentraland, a global metaverse company with a market cap of $600M+. The enthusiasm of the 3D modelers/animators will be no less. They, too, will be recruited from all over the world for the chance to develop the limited-edition wearable version, win prize money and bragging rights. Let us not forget that each winner will receive 20% of the revenue from the sale of the wearables, indefinitely. This is a new and innovative approach to recruiting new content creators to DCL.

Additionally, we had to obtain permission from DCL to utilize and distribute branded material. There are stipulations with the manufacturers that we are bound to by contract with DCL where certain human rights rules (e.g., ensuring no child labor is utilized) must be adhered to.

MANY OF THESE CHEAPER BRANDS DO NOT FOLLOW HUMAN RIGHTS RULES SUCH AS ENSURING NO CHILD LABOR IS UTILIZED. This crosses off a lot of fast-fashion brands and manufacturers from the list of possible vendors.

The format of this project is designed to build hype around DCL. It will make people WANT TO WEAR the shirt EVEN MORE. People like supporting other artists from the community. Imagine being a graphic designer working on the winning design, or voting on the official 2023 phygital t-shirt design, or hosting the event where graphic designers showcase their work…you’d tell friends, family members, colleagues, etc. to come out and support! It’s exciting. We need to have some sort of fun/hype factor that a simple t-shirt distribution plan will not create.

So, I respectfully disagree with the back-of-the-napkin math Peanut Butta shared. The other parts of this project were not figured into his formula. Those variables have their own ROIs and cannot be made to simply fit formulaic ideals.

Lastly, this is a MULTI-FACETED PROJECT, not just a t-shirt campaign. The t-shirts are the star of the show, but not the only component of the project. Let’s be sure to read and become informed to have our own viewpoints before letting others paint their narrative of someone else’s work.

PB,

A few things for you regarding “opinions” you’ve shared about our project.

Your opinions minimize our project to us “just creating t-shirts” when, in fact, it is much more than. You believe that the value-to-cost is low. Okay, sure. Let’s look at an example together.

Respectively, let’s say you make $100K annually in your role as a DCL Community Manager (random salary and job title provided for illustrative purposes only).

What if someone came out and said, “$100K?! To play on Twitter all day?! Such an easy job that can be done in 2 hours for $20K.” Is that true? Yes, Twitter is one small component of your role. I’m sure you have to work on reports, newsletters, Instagram, meetings, internal initiatives, etc.

What would you say to someone who minimized your work to playing on Twitter? That’s all they see in what you do because that’s what you do publicly, yet are they representing what you do correctly? No, of course not. We know you do and are responsible for much more.

Also, you keep mentioning community sentiment behind this project. Why do you think it’s so negative? People haven’t read our full proposal. It doesn’t appear that anyone understands the project. No one gave us feedback during the draft. There aren’t many negative comments. The person with the most negative sentiment about it is you. Looks like the same people who never replied to our messages are simply voting no. They are a group of users who have large VPs, and the ability to crush a small team like ours. You are spreading negative sentiments and encouraging others to vote no. Of those who have voted no, we encourage you to read the proposal and share your why along with a suggestion to make it better. We truly do appreciate any feedback to make this better for the community.

This is a waste of budget. I vote NO.

Below we have included a visual to illustrate to the community the activities Ennova will complete for this project. The main point we’d like to drive is that yes, the t-shirts are a component of the project, but not the sole focus (minimal efforts of this project, to be frank) nor the only ROI driver.

This pie chart illustrates that our project extends far beyond just t-shirts. 95% of our efforts are not focused on t-shirts.

We’ve also included a chart containing the roles we plan to recruit and onboard to DCL inclusive of the platforms we plan to utilize to do so.

We are engaging to recruit and onboard users from 15+ web2 and web3 platforms. Each one plays a critical role in shaping the innovation and quality that our project represents.

I love the idea can’t wait to participate this is EPiC @jcb Keep the work BLESiNG  :facepunch:

Big bummer that it failed but to be realistic with you try to restructure your proposal maybe even split it, Also some advice I can give you personally don’t give up or listen to anyone telling you they could do this for free or cheaper if that was the case they would’ve done it already :man_shrugging: period.

Would love to see you make a comeback!
