Introduction

Grant is finished! Besides our regular activities, we are excited to announce that our Grants github repository has been created, and we have also added the metric “target audience size” to in-world users for grants in the “in-world content” category, following the Revocations Committee’s need. Our 6 month analysis has been published, and we will publish a second proposal for our renewal, as the first did not pass.

Highlights

Here is a status update on activities of month 6, along with the impact metrics on our proposal based on our three main goals, and a summary of this grant as an end report.

Goal 1: Support the grantees

This month, we welcomed 1 new grantee, adding a total of 34 onboarded grantees these 6 months. Besides, this month we are still working with 3 grantees from legacy (grants that passed before March the 1st 2023) and from those, 2 will finish their grant during December. We are working with 40 projects nowadays.

  • We allocated a total of 148 hours to interact with grantees, and provide support during this month, summing a total of 784 hours of support during this grant.

  • This month we have identified 3 new problems and requests from grantees, 5 were solved, summing a total of 67 problems and requests solved in this grant.

  • Promotion: This month we have two articles written, and we are waiting for the review by the Foundation: Protocol Squad and Decentraland University. This adds a total of 9 articles published during the grant, and we have hosted grantees projects in townhalls along to showcase their amazing work.

  • Testing Tuesdays: We have opened a Public Notion Page of our Testing Sessions to provide transparency on the actions of this initiative. This month we had DAO Governance Squad, 800 ADDs and DCL University, adding a total of 21 testing sessions during these 6 months. If you want to join future sessions, fill out this form, and we’ll contact you.

Goal 2: Foster transparency

We have posted our 6-month analysis based on the learnings of this grant. Here are the slides, and here the video of the presentation done in the TownHall.
After the recommendation of the Revocations Committee, we have added the metric “target audience size” to in-world users for grants in the “in-world content” category, to be more explicit and help the grantees understand what is expected from them in terms of reporting their impact.

*The DAO Grants Github REPO has been created. It features the list of platform grants, and those with public repositories have already been forked.

Blockers

There are two articles that had been produced, that are waiting for Decentraland Foundation’s approval. We expect them to be published during December.

Next steps

After analyzing community comments on the first version of a posted renewal for our team, valuable suggestions have been raised regarding budget and cost considerations during the bear market, improved communications, and transparency. Based on these, Hourly rates for the team will be reduced, advisor hours will be cut by 50% and the work hours for the rest of the team will be reduced by 18%. We have also come to the agreement of cutting our travel budget, reducing the updates on landing page maintenance to once on the next renewal, reducing the number of blog posts to 1 per month, removing the creation of a board of experts and a pause the production of new content on the manual of operations. We have also updated impact metrics from the last 15 days and added the implementation of financial reporting.

Goal 2: Foster transparency

  • We’ve updated the GSS Public Roadmap.

  • We are always encouraging grantees to make their monthly updates, and you can check those out in the dAPP.

  • Every Monday the GSS is sharing the planned tasks for the week in our Discord Channel.

Goal 3: Guarantee an efficient use of the DAO treasury.

This month, we received and analyzed 2 concerns about 1 grant, that sums 4 cases during this period. We have also dismissed 2 cases as they were invalid submissions, and 1 was elevated to the Revocations Committee. There is a total recovered from revocations of $433778 DAI during this 6-month period.

Improvements to the Grants Program during these 6 months:

We have created three proposals to make a better grants program based on community needs:

  • Landing Page: We have launched the decentraland Grants Landing Page! to help grantees have all the information about the grants program in one place, and for prospect grantees to learn about the Decentraland grants program.
  • Onboarding kit: We have made the first shipping of +45 deliveries! If you are a grantee and are reading this, let us know when you receive it! <3
  • AGILE: We continue shaping up this implementation, reorganizing our meetings, roles and backlog that we’ll be testing during October.
  • Grantees Metrics: We are gathering impact metrics along with the grantees, in compliance to the new requirements of the grant program framework voted earlier this year. However, each grant and category has its own unique characteristics that we are addressing in order to improve them.
It has been a great grant! Thank you for reading and supporting our work along these 6 months.
