Description

Our aim with the proposal is to take MetaParty events, experiences, and CyberStrife to the next level. Funding from the DAO will enable MetaParty to develop a multifunctional space within Decentraland, where the team can increase the quality of MetaParty events. The team will conduct the following:

  1. MetaParty HQ:
Within the MetaParty HQ we intend to host 12 events per month including, dance parties, interactive mini game challenges and sponsored events. The build will have multiple levels and a user interface allowing players to easily teleport around the parcel and take part in multiple challenges. We intend to hire established artists from within the Decentraland community and onboard artists into Decentraland to perform at events. We intend to improve upon the MetaParty HQ over time.

  2. CyberStrife: RPG style Play-To-Earn game:
Over the past four months, our team has been working hard to develop CyberStrife, a RPG-style Play-to-Earn game. We have released multiple versions of the game into Decentraland to gain feedback from the community. MetaParty has partnered with MetaZone to improve the experience of CyberStrife, by implementing a save game feature, NFT delegation feature and distributed version of the game. By having an array of diverse experiences in Decentraland, the team believes we will retain active users and build upon our community. By using a smart contract we will repay the DAO 10% royalties of all sales of the CyberStrife game. Furthermore, 10% of all CyberStrife and MetaParty merchandise will be sent to the DAO until the grant is fully repaid.

  3. Monthly Community Fashion Shows:
The MetaParty team aims to highlight and showcase different artists within this space through our unique “Community Fashion Show” event. Earlier this year, MetaParty worked directly with the Decentraland Foundation to host MetaVerse Fashion Week 2022 (MVFW), in which numerous artists showcase their wearables to the community. Due to the success of MVFW the MetaParty team reintroduced Community Fashion Shows, originally we asked creators within the space to sponsor the event in an effort to raise a prize pool for the audience. We realized that this model limits certain creators from participating. Moving forward Community Fashions Shows will be free of charge, and aim to capture the phenomenal work of wearable artists within this community.

  4. Regular Live stream and Podcasts:
As active YouTube and Twitch streamers, the MetaParty team (Rezinator and FriskyBumbleBee) has been creating live content surrounding topics and organizations within the Decentraland space, showcasing many individuals and organizations within this space and their hard work in getting to where they are today. The team believes that by providing engaging content and enabling collaboration between different organizations, we can potentially onboard and attract quality users into Decentraland.

  5. Cross Metaverse Hub:
The team will engage in community outreach to new metaverses (spatial IO in particular) and create a cross-platform hub in the MetaParty HQ. By collaborating with community leaders within Spatial IO, the team believes it will increase the organic growth of new users in Decentraland. The goal is to not only create a hub located in the MetaParty HQ but to also collaborate with Spatial IO, creating a unique build within their platform; this will create a bridge between both metaverses, allowing multiple events to happen in both Decentraland and Spatial IO.

Specification

The MetaParty team will be working directly with MetaZone, achieving the following: implementing the save game feature, NFT delegation, listing the CyberStrife game for sale as a distributed version on the MetaZone website, redesigning the UI, ensuring data integrity and improving the game experience over time. The team will also create and release new NFTs, smart wearables, and create unique player experiences through the RPG system. We aim to collaborate with other Decentraland creators to bring more interoperability to DCL and diverse experiences which the team believes will assist in scalability and retention for the platform.

The CyberStrife RPG will be available to purchase on the MetaZone website as a Meta NFT. Owners of these NFTs can deploy the CyberStrife game to their land. Game data carries over between parcels and this offers landowners an opportunity to bring more foot traffic to their parcels. As previously mentioned, 10% of all CyberStrife game sales will be sent back to the DAO via smart contract until the grant is fully repaid.

By introducing the distributed CyberStrife game we aim to expand our team over time and embark on a road of becoming self-sustainable. The team aims to provide the utmost immersive experience for all citizens in Decentraland. The team will continue to create and host unique experiences with an aim to improve upon each event.

In addition, Community Fashion Shows are popular events within the Decentraland community and have been since MetaVerse Fashion Show 2022. The team will incorporate this as a continuous event that will be hosted once a month. A new build will be created by the team for each event and all community wearable / emote creators will be invited to walk the runway and showcase their designs for no charge. A prize pool will be allocated for each event, giving players an incentive to create and post Decentraland videos to Twitter and YouTube to win prizes. Furthermore, the entire audience will be invited to walk the runway at the end of the events and showcase their favorite outfits in the “Best Dressed Challenge”.

You can watch over 110 videos focused completely on Decentraland and MetaParty via The Rezinator’s YouTube channel, furthermore FriskyBumbleBee has hosted over 25 streams centered around Decentraland on twitch, re-uploading those videos to YouTube.

Hey Decentraland Community,
I’ve been attending MetaParty Events for quite some time.
The MetaParty Events and the CyberStrive wearables have amazing utility to them. The events are advertised and consistent. A wonderful challenge to complete the mazes and the parkour which takes my mind off other things and allows me to immerse into completing the challenge. I like that the live youtube includes all who do participate in each daily event.

Monthly been attending and participating in community fashion shows; where MetaParty coordinates and plans to have creators within decentraland participate in addition to those in the community that wear the wearables to showcase. Prizes are won with each individual’s participation. Truly genuinely great seeing everyone enjoying themselves when they visit the location for exploration of each build that is presented to the noticed events both on decentraland events and in the MetaParty discord community.

Hey @M1ssConduct @DedHeadJ @Dhingia and everyone who else that has voted so far, the team would like to thank everyone for their kind words and feedback on this proposal. It means a lot to receive remarkable feedback from the community, and we will continue to deliver excellence. The community truly drives the MetaParty team to continue pushing forward and create immersive experiences for all Decentraland citizens.

Hey @Rezinator! I appreciate everything you have been doing with the community and all with the Fashion shows and such. As for my criticism, this is not about your capabilities or your team’s capabilities of whether or not you can complete this.

The problems I encounter is that Metazone’s platform does not publicly sharing their principle office location and I have had poor prior experiences using that platform. I have spent over 2000 MANA on that platform and none of my experiences from that platform have been good. However, when I reached out to the Metazone platform about my situation, they point the finger at me, the customer. Then when I asked about them being responsible for allowing poor products, they said that I as the customer have to take it up with the seller. There is no good means of mediation or resolution process through the Metazone platform as they have not been helpful.

So the questions I have are:

  1. What price point do you plan on selling this for? Is it going to keep you sustainable in the future?
  2. Will you consider another platform besides Metazone to sell this game on?
  3. If you won’t consider another platform, how do you plan to handle any disputes, bug fixes and such? Will this game work indefinitely if you someone purchases it? What happens if this team is no longer around to fix bugs? How does this get handled? As from my understanding, the purchaser does not have access to the code itself.

I would greatly appreciate if you can answer these questions.

Hey @Tudamoon, I apologize for the late reply we are about 5 hours ahead of you in the UK. The team really appreciates your feedback and concerns, I do apologize for the experience you have had with MetaZone in the past, earlier this year we encountered an issue after purchasing a Meta NFT, however the MetaZone team was super helpful and quickly resolved the issue. Please DM privately and explain to me more about your situation so I can better assist with a resolution, but here are my answers to your questions below:

  1. The team is in discussion on price points per deployable Meta. We want to make it a fair price in which a parcel owner can purchase this, and as time progresses continue to make meticulous updates on the Meta’s to make it as engaging as possible in which the community, MetaParty, and the land parcel owner can all benefit from. Based on the price predictions we have made on certain models, MetaParty will be on the road to becoming fully sustainable. The team will still have to do the correct marketing, but the team is well-equipped and prepare to face those challenges in the near future and will not request any additional funding from the DAO.

  2. The team right now will honor our current partnership with MetaZone in the development of CyberStrife. The back-end development of the save game, NFT delegation, and the deployment of a distributed version of the game require a lot of technical expertise to make it fully functional. As well as development of a smart contract, in which 10% of all generated revenue from sales will go back to the DAO. MetaZone has been here in Decentraland for over 4+ years now and they have a really great team of developers that can assist the MetaParty teams’ mission and current line of efforts.

  3. While continuing with our monthly events, we will also do continuous stress testing with the CyberStrife RPG before its beta release and will leverage FriskyBumblebee’s parcel to handle certain stress tests to prevent any issues with our continuous events on our main parcel. T3 has vast experience as a front-end developer and will ensure proper codes and bugs are resolved in the API. In addition, we will continue to have our regular meetings with MetaZone and ensure all bugs are fully addressed. Quality and delivering excellence have been guiding principles behind MetaParty, and we will continue to provide an immersive experience to Decentraland.

I have already tried this in the past with Metazone and the creator of the Meta, both were pointing fingers at eachother and neither were willing to provide help.

I am reliant on their Meta doing what it is supposed to do. However, the Creator of the meta will not be doing anything to fix it for me and Metazone fails to take it off of their site and will not work with me. I take fault on this - Not my keys, Not my meta. So now I am helpless.

What I am asking is that these metas exist forever, what is your warranty? How long will you work on the game until. Because if I “own” the meta for 5 years and it breaks or stops working, Will your or your team be around to fix it? I dont want anyone to get caught with what I had to deal with.

Hey @Tudamoon, the team will follow up on this matter. In terms of the longevity of the Meta’s, the team at MetaParty has been consistently hosting events and creating experience for over a year and half, and MetaZone has been a pioneer in this space for over 4 years. We are embedded within the community, and with CyberStrife available as a Meta we intend to be here for the long game. Lastly, once we start generating revenue we will expand our team to include hiring more front end and back end developers, we will continue to develop CyberStrife, fix any bugs as soon as possible and maintain building our community for a long as Decentraland exists. Hope this answer your questions

Happy to support MetaParty in creating distributed experiences. CyberStrife as a RPG play to earn style game where community members can host the game on their own parcel is what MetaZone is about.

DAO payback is huge step in the right direction to keep the treasury sustainable. Not all proposals should payback the funds, but huge respect to the MetaParty team for setting an example in taking the first step to a sustainable DAO treasury.
