I appreciate you bringing up the Decentraland DAO Unbanning, however I am looking for an answer about this which I believe is more important:
I am going to assume you studied the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution being a doctorate of political science, as it is one of the most widely studied amendments dealing with civil rights. This amendment to the U.S. Constitution was revolutionary to the entire world. A lot of its principles on civil rights was based on this.
Many see its importance for the citizenship clause which granted all persons born or naturalized in the U.S. which in many cases were blacks. This is important, however if it wasn’t for the due process clause, Equal treatment under the law would NOT be a thing. So while it would be great that they are citizens, without the due process clause, there would also be no law saying that a group of people had to be treated equally. This is why I find the due process clause even more important than the citizenship clause, even though they are both important.
As for Decentraland, I do think it is important that we establish rules against those who are elected on Squads, Committees and are proxies for any task required of Decentraland. In fact, we need proper procedures to be enacted by the DAO. Without proper procedures in place, you are creating room for subjective procedure which has bias. If we lay a foundation and create due process, then it holds everyone equally to the same rules. No one is above the policies enacted by the DAO.
With that introduction, I was hoping to hear your opinions on this topic.
