Hi everyone,
Welcome to the first 2026 monthly update! January was focused across three fronts: (1) Settting up infrastructure for the DAO’s treasury management operations, (2) continued progress on the mobile + web clients toward production readiness, and (3) building small multiplayer prototypes to validate different content loops optimized for mobile and test the authoritative server solution (enabling better multiplayer experiences for creators)
Scope: January 1–31
Living Roadmap: high-level goals, % complete, and brief descriptions across hiring, projects, and funding.
Financial Dashboard: treasury & ops overview, diversification activity, vault deposits/yields, and spend categories.
Legal & Operations
-
Formal legal notice to former DAO Committee members regarding withheld DAO assets + Marketplace fees.
- Regenesis Labs issued legal notifications to former DAO Committee members HPrivakos and Rizk regarding DAO-controlled assets still held outside the DAO Treasury and marketplace-related fee flows that should be directed to the DAO.
- Former Committee member Tobik remains collaborative, and another TX was initiated to hand over the control of the multisignature wallets of the DAO to the community-voted group.
- A report to the community detailing all the steps taken will be published as soon as the situation allows it.
-
DAO Treasury operational vault configured (Avantgarde). Avantgarde set up the DAO Treasury operational vault. You can review it here:
- Vault (Safe): Safe{Wallet}
- Zodiac roles/allowances: Safe{Wallet}
- No assets have been transferred yet. The DAO Council will vote publicly on the strategy on their Snapshot space and will wait until the two-week community veto period ends before executing any movements.
-
Operational dashboards refreshed. We updated the operational dashboards we published at the start of our first mandate to better reflect budget usage and progress review. You can find the latest version here: https://dclregenesislabs.xyz/

Experiences & Content
January continued our focus on small, repeatable multiplayer experiences that are easy to drop into, run in short sessions, and validate different interaction patterns:
- SlidePenguin — a curling-style game we are building for the Community Winter Games to be held in February.
- Tower of Madness — multiplayer generative parkour ; matches up to ~7 minutes. We’re planning to release this in February.
- Star Cash — belt-sliding game with a lobby flow per session. In development.
This track also pushed forward our server-side stack, to move toward an authoritative server architecture that can later be reused by builders in the ecosystem. We also produced internal documentation on mobile development practices and Creator Hub pipelines that will be published alongside the release of the first version of the Decentraland mobile application.
Clients & R&D
Web/Desktop Client (Bevy)
Check the Bevy pre-alpha client here
January focused on performance optimization, new SDK capabilities, and a major communications layer refactor. Highlights include:
- LiveKit refactor to unify logic between web and native clients, adding livestreaming support and improving reconnection handling.
- Performance work reducing VRAM/CPU overhead (notably image handling), minimizing shader compilation stutter, and improving visual stability during content streaming.
- New scene capabilities : support for Trigger Areas and GLTF Node Modifiers (runtime GLTF manipulation).
- UX and polish: improved loading screens and pointer tooltips.
- Bug fixes across movement blocking, map pin flicker, video/UI material caching, TextShape boundaries, backpack layout, and error handling popups; plus improvements to logging and CI.
Roadmap toward Alpha readiness
- Phase 1 (Feb 20) — “Stop feeling like a PoC”: visual polish, loading states, core stability (in progress)
- Phase 2 (Mar 30) — “Core social + identity”: friends, chat improvements, passport features
- Phase 3 (Apr 20): map/minimap improvements, feature parity progress
- Phase 4: feature parity with the reference client
Mobile Clients (Godot)
January set a new internal pace with 128 issues closed, primarily focused on performance, stability, and visuals, while still landing major features like enriched deeplinking, Scene Skybox, and automatic graphics settings.
We also continued navigating iOS App Store approval requirements, which currently require pre-curation of content available on iOS. We’re still targeting a stable release in March, supported by weekly community playtesting and feedback loops.
Next release (February) — key themes
- Performance & stability: major asset loading refactor, mobile-optimized assets, Draco meshes, iOS startup fix (~20s faster), UI performance improvements.
- Social: universal deeplinks; cross-platform block sync; nearby player count.
- Gameplay: emote sync/loop; animated joystick; improved teleport modals; camera mode switcher; wearable claiming fix; Genesis Plaza support & optimizations.
- Visuals: skybox; emissive/bloom iteration; auto graphics settings and dynamic profiles; very low graphics mode; reduced distant shadow rendering; multiple scene-gen improvements.
- iOS compliance: content gating + manual curation; content download warnings; removal of in-app purchase promotions on iOS.
- Login: MetaMask native support on Android; verification code fully removed; simplified sign-in steps.
Known issues (as of the end of January)
- New Plaza still has broken features (e.g., drone) and overlapping UI texts
- Sit emotes fail to position players correctly
- Avatars occasionally display partially below ground level
- 46 open issues (tracked internally)
Comms & Community
- Regenesis Labs Scene: a dedicated space for upcoming bi-weekly in-world events, starting in February, where we’ll share progress and take feedback live from the community.
- Community Testing Program: All January sessions were held. You can find more information on the official thread.
