Point Motion’s DAO Proposal for Funding: MotionMine™

Summary
Using a reward mechanism to encourage wellness and healthy habits in the Metaverse. To belong to a community means that we care for its wellness and often sitting in front of a computer for hours causes health problems in the future, so we want to bring MotionMine™ to the Metaverse in support of health as well as prosperity.
MotionMine™ is a space that inspires wellness and rewards physical activity: users, who show up to exercise, follow the displayed activities and get rewarded. Using Point Motion’s markerless motion capture technology via the built-in camera or an external camera to track users’ physical activity and allowing them to track their own progress and performance over time while being rewarded with redeemed points to access gifts, wearables, and more!

Abstract:
Research shows that “One in four people sit greater than eight hours a day; four in ten are physically inactive. And one in ten are both – they sit for more than eight hours, and they’re physically inactive.” (Source)
Sitting for long periods of time causes several health concerns not just physical i.e. back pain, neck pain, but also increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, psychological deterioration, and more.
We want to bring a meaningful, enjoyable, and yet healthy experience for all our community in Decentraland and reward them for their physical activity, and that’s when we realized MotionMine™, the idea.
Now we will need you to approve of it to be able to bring it to life!
Here is a quick review of the envisioned experience:
Introduction & Discovery
Users will approach a building that will be designed to inspire motivation, healthy living, improved self-esteem, and inclusion. We will incorporate aesthetics that will make all users feel acknowledged regardless of their physical condition or appearance. The purpose of this space will be to promote physical as well as mental wellness.
Opportunity
Upon entering the space users will be greeted by an NPC (or Video player) welcoming new users or acknowledging those returning. The user is guided to execute 5 of the available exercises every day to be rewarded with points/prizes.
20-25 minutes of MotionMining
The user then selects from an available library of activities from which they can execute. Users have the option of selecting from various genres and songs available to personalize their experience. As they run the program, the user is prompted to mirror body movements and when done so accurately the user hears an auditory/musical response. Once an exercise has been completed, the user will receive Motion Points according to their performance.
Turned into Valuable Rewards, with Real World Value
Once the user has accumulated enough Motion Points™, they can redeem prizes such as wearables and NFTs.
Motivation
Experiences in the metaverse are continuing to expand, and for the digital explorer, there is never a lack of opportunities. As such, we are beginning to spend more time than ever sitting behind a computer. A reality that is more serious than ever in this age of human-to-computer interaction.
We want to see our community in Decentraland grow healthy and happy, so for that reason, we believe it is our duty to bring a creative and rewarding solution to the Metaverse.
We at Point Motion aim to use music to motivate movement. We work in health facilities as means to engage patients in therapeutic activities for rehabilitation, which automatically track progress on their cognitive and motor functions over time. What makes this tool special is how we use music as an interactive element of the overall experience, so users have a cause/effect auditory response when moving as prompted. No special handheld or wearable devices are required, simply using the camera on your computer you can interact with the digital experience. Markerless motion capture technology has developed to the point we can introduce it into experiences like this that can reward users for staying active. No images of the user are captured, and all of our systems are compliant with HIPAA security and privacy standards to protect and serve our end users. Our technology is already being used and is trusted by health clinics, and therapeutic programs around the world!
After discovering Decentraland and experiencing the results of successfully mining our first wearable from Wondermine, this gave us an idea…what if, using our patented motion capture software, we could reward Decentraland Citizens who take breaks to be physically active. As we see the Metaverse continue to expand and become a place where people explore further human potential, we find it important to keep people anchored physically and reward individuals who readily invest in their own health and wellness. Our adaptive technology tracks movements, and rewards users if they have completed exercises available. Wondermine has shown us that while being rewarded, users are ready to be consistent in their efforts, evidenced by Wondermine being often the highest trafficked location in Decentraland:

- All the activities within the Point Motion Library are created and maintained by partnered therapeutic specialists in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Music Therapy. Although we already have content prepared, we will always be open to requests for inclusive activities that help you reach your wellness goals! Whether that means a simplified pushup, or seated cardio routine, we are glad to accommodate!
**The requested funds represent ~0.13% of the available funds to creators for Decentraland. Considering there are currently no experiences that can motivate and reward users for actively moving and exercising, this would be an appropriate investment for our community.

“Against” means you DO NOT approve the requested Grant Budget allocated to the team to build MotionMine in Decentraland. This response would be hopefully included with feedback on how to best adjust the proposal for future approval.

Q: How will this benefit The Decentraland Community, and bring value to our metaverse?
A: By bringing an opportunity to be rewarded for being physically active, we can not only bring a healthy habit to our Decentraland citizens of being active, but this will also inspire other big brands like Adidas and Nike to explore how this space can be used to connect on values they represent.
Q: How do I get rewarded for exercising?
A: When you run one of the activities, you will be prompted on your screen with various movements, and poses which you have to match. As long as you are participating and matching enough of the movements you will be rewarded with points that can be redeemed for all sorts of wearables and NFTs.
Q: Are you taking my personal information?
A: Thanks to all the potential blockchain technology has offered us, your data belongs to you without any concern of privacy. We don’t have access to any of your personal information, and in fact, at some point down the line, you will be able to give it to your doctor if you choose.
We will only release data from our system given a valid cryptographic signature from the participating users ethereum address.
