Introduction

1st Monthy Update - Scene building

Highlights

We’ve built a 3-level building to cater to the future needs of hosting Web gaming exhibitions and esports events in Decentraland. The design principles are as follows:

  • Ground Floor (G/F): The ground floor offers public space for users to get to know and engage with each other. These areas will also be open for sponsorship/ad placement from 3rd party games in the future.

  • First Floor (1/F): This floor is specifically designed for game exhibitions. As a starting point, we’ve included 10 exhibition booths for each event, which means up to 10 games could be collaborated and promoted in each event. For the first event, the registration is already full, including SERAPH, Skytopia, METACENE, Space Nation, and so on.

  • Second Floor (2/F): The second floor is specifically for hosting esports events, where matches will be livestreamed on a large screen, and users will engage in guessing the results of each match by staking their $MANA and winning prizes provided by the projects.

Blockers

The time needed to finish building the scene and additional functionalities took longer than we planned at the beginning, so the schedule is quite tight.

On the other hand, the quotation given by the smart contract audit firms - Certik (5000 USD) and Beosin (3500 USD) - was out of our budget. This also took us extra time to seek a 3rd audit firm.

Next steps

The first version of the scene has been completed on time. For the next step, we’ll seek assistance from Cyphalab (https://cyphalab.com/) - a Hong Kong-based local blockchain solution company - for their smart contract audit service. This is to ensure that the smart contract we deploy is free of bugs and security risks for Decentraland users.
