Hey Folks, I was inspired by Gino call for Decentraland Constitution ideas.
“Decentralized autonomous organizations contain a particular promise: the ability to solve old coordination problems through smart contracts that encode constitutional rights. Although smart contracts are promising new tools for governance, they alone cannot govern communities; traditional constitutions and declarations of rights are still crucial for good governance.” https://constitutions.metagov.org/
My opinion is that DCL needs this set of general values, rules for our community.
What do you think about this ? What info should be in the Decentraland Constitution ?
This will be a core goal of the DAO Facilitation Team if we continue in our operations through a second grant cycle: To help facilitate an inclusive and representative distributed constitutional drafting process, and hopefully support coming together for an IRL event as a form of a “Constituent Assembly”!
I think we need a code of ethics. I’m not sure I’m ready to call it a constitution, but we need something. We have a lot of questions to answer as a community.
Is it appropriate to self-vote on your own proposal?
Is it ethical to offer your vote if someone buys into your NFT project and you have vp?
Is it ethical to use delegated vp to vote in your own best interest?
Is it ethical for a few large vp holders to be able to vote in almost any proposal?
More than anything I think the value is in getting these conversations started.
I agree with @Canessa. A code of ethics would be more appropriate.

NO, it is not ethical, but it is happening, and when some in the community call it out the conversation gets steered towards bullying and toxicity and trolling but these are legit questions that have been asked respectfully, and I would also like to see some accountability.
