I would like to organize an event in Decentraland where we have the opportunity to speak about our applications and visions in front of the community. I brought up this idea today in the weekly Community Building Space, and since I am an applicant myself and cannot moderate this event, I asked SinfulMeatSticks if he would be open to moderating it - and he is. Gino has indicated that the new DAO HQ would be available as a venue for this event.
Brief Event Description:
Duration: Maximum 2 hours
Structure: Introduction to the topic, time for each applicant to present their application, closing remarks without a concluding summary
Purpose of the Event:
To add an extra layer to the written applications through spoken words in-world.
To give applicants the opportunity to highlight key points of their application.
To draw the community’s attention to the upcoming election.
What this event is not intended to be:
A debate or discussion between applicants.
No one should attend this event with the concern of having to justify themselves.
Of course, participation in this event is not mandatory, but I would be happy if as many applicants as possible take the opportunity to present their application and introduce themselves to the community. I want to ensure that we find a date where everyone interested can participate.
I would like to structure the event like a speed-interview round. This means each applicant will have a set amount of time to talk about themselves and their application.
I understand that a speed-interview format might not provide enough time for every applicant to cover all their important topics. However, I still believe it’s valuable because:
It keeps things short and engaging for the audience, preventing attention loss.
It considers varying levels of English fluency - while some may find it easy to speak for hours about their motivations, others might find it more challenging.
A predetermined time slot allows every applicant to prepare in advance and focus on their most important points.
Please let me know if you’re interested and share your thoughts on this. Once we know who’s on board, we can find a suitable date together.
Thank you for your attention and best regards, ToxicWaifu
I will now tag all applicants so they can see this post and share their preferred times. Since only 10 tags are allowed per post, I will tag them in separate posts. Later this week, I will post two dates here, which can then be voted on via a like. For this, I’d like to wait until it’s announced when the community vote will begin.
I appreciate your initiative to discuss this pivotal and controversial topic. Open dialogue is essential for developing a solution that is both sensible and widely acceptable.
Availability:
Monday to Wednesday, Friday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Thursday: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Saturday: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Sunday: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Given the numerous overlapping time slots, utilizing a free polling tool like Framadate could streamline scheduling.
I propose holding several preliminary meetings before finalizing the council. While our goal is complete decentralization, achieving this without a substantial number of voters and a diverse distribution of voting power may be challenging. A more centralized approach could be advantageous for competitive growth at this stage.
We are laying the foundation for a successful, long-term decentralized autonomous platform. Although its origins are rooted in the founding members, through constructive and flexible discussions, we can develop an autonomous organization that endures for centuries or as long as it remains relevant.
I look forward to our meetings and to hearing everyone’s visions.
Thank you so much for your reply! It was important to me to first ask about availability here in the forum to keep everything as transparent as possible. An external polling tool would definitely make finalizing things easier - thank you for that suggestion!
I’d also like to clarify something, as I might not have expressed it clearly enough before: This event is not intended to discuss the future tasks of the council or the general direction of the DAO.
This event is for the Decentraland community, giving users a chance to meet the council candidates and draw more attention to the election. At the same time, I want to ensure that candidates have the opportunity to share their applications and visions with the users - in other words, simply talk about what we’ve already written in our applications, no more, no less. Additionally, it’s meant to help users make an informed decision when it comes time to vote.
From what I’ve observed, many users in Decentraland aren’t fully aware of what’s currently happening in the DAO. That’s why I’ll also be hosting a preparatory event this Tuesday, January 7th, at 10:30 PM UTC, where I’ll focus entirely on the DAO Council election and provide a short How-To for the Forum and DAO.
I’d definitely be interested in participating in this! Thank you for your efforts in coordinating it. Please let me know if you need any help organizing.
To accommodate different time zones, perhaps there could be two meetup options if everyone’s availability permits.
Here’s my availability:
Weekdays: Early mornings (6–8 AM EST) or late evenings (6 PM EST onwards).
Weekends: Sundays work best for me, as Saturdays are about to get busy with tax season.
I’ll do my best to adjust to whatever time is decided. I also recommend using a scheduling tool to find one or two two-hour slots that work for everyone.
Thank you for organizing this Toxic. It is valuable to hear directly from each candidate if possible. I am available most days except Wednesday through Friday. On those days after 4:00pm PST would work best for me.
Thank you for organizing this initiative. I believe it’s a great opportunity to express in more depth the ideas and visions we have as applicants, and to engage with the community directly.
I can be flexible between 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM UTC, Monday to Friday. If the selected time or date ends up being impossible for my schedule, I’d be happy to contribute by sending a pre-recorded video to share my thoughts with the community.
Looking forward to hearing more details as this develops.
Hello @toxicwaifu, Thanks for taking the step of doing that and feel free to contact me if you need help with it or if you’d like to stream it in the DAO HQ , maybe we can do exceptional Town Hall on Discord to meet some of the applicants that fit their time zone.
you might find this tool helpful if you’re not already aware of it: LettuceMeet. It can assist in finding the perfect time for everyone.
Besides that, Sorry for the delay in the voting process. Gino and his team are working to resolve the issue causedby not having consistent maintenance for the governance pages. Iam almost sure the vote will begin by this Thursday at the latest.
Just now seeing this. Would be very happy to oarticipate. I am most available CST 10am to 11pm (UTC 16:00 to 05:00) daily, but could do other times as needed.
I am out of town Sunday Jan 12.
Thank you so much for your responses! I’ll wait until tomorrow to give everyone who hasn’t shared their preferred times yet a chance to do so. After that, I’ll share a link to a scheduling tool with a few options based on the times already mentioned. Hopefully, we’ll find a time that works for everyone Best regards! @AaronLeupp@MetaRyuk@ChronoT.AeonSmash@maryana@Canessa@Dhingia@Agus@Peanutbutta@rizk@CarlFravel
You still have the opportunity to share your scheduling preferences until tomorrow at 8 PM UTC. After that, I will provide some dates in an online planning tool, where you can vote for your preferred date, and a final date will be selected. If too many people are unavailable for a specific date, a second event with an alternative date will be arranged.
These dates will need to be discussed in advance with SinfulMeatStick, as he will be moderating the event. I’m also very excited to share that Phuturemusic has offered to perform as a musical act for an afterparty!
Best regards and have a great weekend!
(I’ll now tag the applicants who haven’t shared their preferences yet.)
