Should the scene located at 24,-28 be added to the Point of Interest list?
Description
The scene located at 24, -28 is the Metaverse Headquarters of The British Blockchain Association (The BBA). Visitors meet Blockchain thought-leaders, , learn latest BBA updates, view infographics, attend events, and learn more about Decentraland.
Hi BBA,
Thank you for taking the time to apply for a POI star. To me I think locations that are worthy of a Point of Interest star have done the following:
Worked to host events before applying for a POI star
Gotten to know community members and become active within the DCL community
Brought value to the greater Decentraland community in a way that is not self-serving
Minted the name they are proposing the POI with
Have not voted on their own proposal: Let the community make this decision
Many businesses wait months or even years before applying for a POI star. Have you held any events at your land? Do you have any scheduled in the future? To protect the integrity of the Point of Interest Star system, I will be voting NO on your star. However I will be happy to change this to a YES vote when your brand expends time and energy investing back into the greater Decentraland Community.
Many brands may believe that a POI star is the next logical step in building a brand in the metaverse. However many of us feel that a POI star is an honor given to locations who have expended time and energy to build not only their brand, but Decentraland as a whole. Some brands seek a POI star to draw attention and customers to their parcel. Other options might include: Hold events at your land, either for your own brand, or let other users use your venue to showcase their wearable release, DJ party, etc. Have event pages for your events to drive traffic to the parcel. Sponsor community events, such as the fashion shows held regularly and other projects that would benefit from the support. Maintain a social media account and connect with Decentraland users on Twitter, Instagram, Discord, etc. The more the community gets to know you and your venue, the more value they will feel that it brings to Decentraland.
We believe as a non-profit, global blockchain advocacy think-tank, we have probably done more to raise the profile of DCL and its community than any other blockchain association in the world. Here is why:
We have hosted events in DCL. Our inaugural metaverse launch event was held on 20 & 21 August - It was displayed on the DCL events page, and we also issued an exclusive limited edition POAP for the attendees: BBA Metaverse Launch Event
This was shared widely on all our social media platforms - including 11000+ Linkedin followers, as well as on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Medium, and via our Newsletters to over 12,000 subscribers, again raising DCLâs profile:
DCL on Twitter and other Social Media
We are not just sharing our own activities but celebrating DCL communityâs success. Check out these recent posts where our president visited other DCL based organisations and shared the stories, to raise awareness of DCL and to support its community:
We have been celebrating the success stories and achievements of other organisations that are launching their presence in the DCL:
Using DCL to observe days of global significance and national interest, such as National Mourning of the passing of the Queen.
We Welcomed Netflix to the DCL Metaverse.
All our social media profile banners now feature DCL Metaverse - promoting, raising awareness and building the DCL Platform.
**We have an ENS for our land parcel - BBA.DCL.ETH. We have a DCL ETH Address.
We are an advocate of Open Metaverse and support open metaverses such as DCL:
Advocating for an open decentralised Metaverse.
Our recently published international scientific Journal (The JBBA) has been displayed in Decentraland metaverse - the worldâs first scientific journal to be displayed in the DCL Metaverse.
(please visit 2nd floor of our metaverse lounge on land 24, -28).
We regularly engage with the DCL community both on and off social media. Our metaverse lounge in DCL is built by the DCL recommended programming lab.
Last but not the least, we are a principal member of Metaverse Standards Forum, that has more than 1800 institutional members as of today, again advocating for open, inclusive and decentralised Metaverse such as DCL.
Decentraland is on our websiteâs home page.
We have hosted âinduction eventsâ to familiarise our members on how to use DCL platform for their events. This includes our global network of universities, enterprises, government and public services. (The video currently being played on our DCL land parcel is from our International Scientific Conference which had delegates from 17 countries and keynotes from UK government officials and policymakers).
We can share more, but we hope it is evident from above examples that we have been selflessly contributing to the DCL community and the DCL platform for the past many months.
We hope that you would now consider supporting our request.
Thank you again and with best wishes,
John Javier

Hi ArtRe, they are not âourâ members but rather we are one of the members of the Metaverse Standards Forum. A very few of those 1800+ are in Decentraland. We hope a success in our proposal will encourage, motivate and inspire some of those institutions to be a part of the DCL family!
Voted yes as donât see the reason for gatekeeping POI so tightly. More POI means more places for metaverse visitors to drop by and explore if they have any relevance. If we had a better directory in game where people could list their scenes without cluttering the map I would be all for restricting POI, but until then it seems like the only way to have a real presence and this scene looks like it warrants one.
