We discussed w/ @fractilians & will provide our āresults streamsā VODs to the DCL DAO so that they can publish those on their social media accounts as well! Since our format is focussed around highlighting creators of the community, it makes sense for us to help educate the ācoreā of Decentraland.
Additionally we have been ramping out clips / shows about decentraland & different cool experiences. Feel free to leave feedback if you happen to see them on our socials!

Very cool to see that so many people are excited about the repository & the approach of open sourcing the assets for the community.
There has been quite a bit of reflection put into this, especially because we didnāt want to āforceā people to open-source their files if they want to participate in the contest. For some artists, sharing their files would be similar to sharing their ācraftā & therefore detrimental to their artistic identity.
Thatās why we are going with volunteers, which also means that the asset collecting process will be slow.
Our hope is that through social activations, connections, exposure, more people will see value & utility in open-sourcing their files & contributing to the ecosystem. This is what we will focus on over the next few weeks & months.

Unrelated to the grant program, we are still improving the platform UI / UX as a whole, and were happy to relese the new contest feature 2-3 weeks ago.

Apologies for the late update here, time to get back on track and up to date with everything we have been working on!

1. Overview

While we didnāt update in here in a while, all our processes are completely public on the platform and on our social media platforms, meaning you can check out the different contests and activations at any time by going on our platform, which we recommend! 
In accordance with the regular schedule, since the last update, we launched:

Additionally, we have improved the voting mechanism for judges. We have improved the process of collecting asset files of builder submissions allowing us to check them in a more extensive way.
In regards to voting, here is a general overview of what judges are taking into account now before casting a vote:
- 50% presentation / idea
This includes:
Video presentation, render presentation, How the asset is implemented / would look in Decentraland, Idea in relation to the theme (contest guidelines). This section is very subjective
- 50% model itself
This includes:
Asset compatibility with DCL, Asset model colouring, Animations, Complexity of asset creation, respecting contest guidelines, Asset optimisation, etc.

(2) Providing content for DCL DAO
Iām sure some of you have noticed but we are now actively working with the Facilitation Squad, especially @fractilians to provide the DCL DAO twitter with content on a regular basis.
We are providing the different graphics for the contest announcements, as well as the video content we produce with the results shows.
We also had the chance to be interviewed for the DCL monthly pulse last week, you should be able to see the episode in the near future where we went more in depth as to what it is like to work for sandstorm!
(3) New Contest payout system
After running the competitions for several weeks, we always tried to match the funded amount by asking individual builders to make complex builds.
In some contests, builders were able to make full experiences that would fit a 2x2 plot for instance within 2 weeks. These builds alone would be worth the contest prizepool (maybe even more) if those builders where to build them for potential clients.
We also noticed that the increased complexity demotivated new builders from participating in Competitions, which is why we started to reduce the scope of the work required to make it more accessible.
As a consequence, we saw an increase in numbers of bids from new creators, which is the entire goal of this grant program. We also think that, with a reduced scope of work, the rewards builders are getting for placing in contests should be adapted to the new scope of work, while providing a good & motivating incentive
!! Change: !! We are changing the reward structure from bi-weekly 5000$ total pricepool contests to a total pricepool of 2500$ // This will transcribe in more contests over time (every single grant $ goes back into contest incentives for creators)
This also means we will more efficiently use the grant money, and be able to hold more contests over time - thus passively increasing the benefit from this grant to the DAO.
In regards to custody: We are only claiming and holding funds for the purpose of the grant program & not using them for anything else. You can check the wallets and see for yourself.
(4) Decentraland activations
We are very happy to see that some community members such as @tangpoko or @virtewel are using the builds some of the builders / they themselves made to run events & activations within decentraland.
We also built a server solution that allows our plot of land to play any of our streaming sessions in Decentraland at any time. We have seen good turnout on the live Decentraland results shows, with between 30-40 people showing up on our plot & 20-30 people watching live on twitch, which is a good start.
Our goal until the next update will be to catch up for the repository, we worked on a better model to collect assets going forward on our system. Unfortunately, for all the olders builds, we still need to do manual outreach to individual builders.
Additionally, we are in discussions with several different brands who want to get started in Decentraland. Hopefully by the next update we will be able to share more about the progress Sandstorm made on that front! Itās time to party together in Decentraland! Our Sandstorm HQ is feeling lonely!!
