:building_construction: Decentraland Builder Training Program – Farsi Educational Initiative

Category: Documentation
Grant Request: $10,000 USD

:receipt: Abstract

This project delivers the first certified Persian-language educational initiative focused on Decentraland’s Creator Hub. Through official licensing for online instruction and virtual experience representation, we will equip Persian-speaking users with the tools to build scenes, wearables, and experiences using Decentraland’s no-code and low-code platforms — all without crypto exposure.

This initiative positions Decentraland as a skills-based learning ecosystem, beyond entertainment, enabling creators from underrepresented regions to access safe, certified, and scalable training. It also helps reframe Decentraland as a compliance-first, skills-based platform for virtual creation that can bridge creators, educators, and curious professionals into Web3 spaces.

We invite the Decentraland Foundation’s Education and Creator teams to provide advisory input and potentially co-sign the certification process, ensuring quality alignment and expanding institutional credibility.

Okay, because I think this is a well-written Grant Request (even if I know ChatGPT did a good bit of the work and formatting). Since I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt that it was made in good faith, I will provide a detailed explanation of why this proposal is invalid, offer feedback, and suggest possible avenues for future consideration.

The reason this Proposal is “Invalid” is for two reasons:

First, the Grant Program was shut down late last year because of abuse and fraud, resulting in minimal return on the millions of dollars the DAO invested.

Secondly, a few years ago, a proposal was passed to prevent any DAO spending outside of the grants program, to the point that the DAO committee has refused to fund the new development team in the past, despite approved governance giving them the right to operate, until additional governance was passed to expressly state that it was allowed to be an exception to the rule.

Now that we have that out of the way, I will say that I believe, in theory, that money spent to make Decentraland accessible to the majority of the world that doesn’t speak English is money well spent, and from my perspective, the amount of money you asked for to achieve the metrics and plan seems reasonable especially if you intend on continuing with Seasonal cohort growth every 3 months without additional funding.

However, you can’t have a “Foundation Collaboration Ask” as part of a DAO grant request. While it is confusing and unintuitive, strictly speaking, the DAO and Foundation have minimal overlap, and you should secure Foundation Collaboration prior to coming to the DAO for funding if you believe Foundation Collaboration is required to execute your grant.

If you believe in your vision and want to chase down every possible option to bring it to life, my first suggestion would be to reach out to the Executive Director of the DAO’s Product Development arm, Regenisis Labs, @ginoct and pitch it to him directly. At this exact moment in time he is the only person within the DAO who could actually fund your project.

The second option is to wait for Gino and the Lab team to work out the details for the future of the grant program, which I believe is going to be for smaller projects, it was either a $5k cap or a $10k cap, and to then resubmit your proposal under the grants category.

Anyway, hopefully that was helpful.
