Our concept involves establishing a DAO hub complete with a park and gamified experiences, designed to encourage existing DAO members & entice new ones. External Image
WE PROPOSE:
DAO HQ: Separate modules representing decentralization & park divided into several zones.
GAMIFICATION:
Unique “vote to earn” mechanics: vote for DAO proposals and get experience points; the more points you earn, the higher your Superhero level, unlocking free rewards.
In-World DAO voting: when visiting DAO HQ, you can see a UI with all new proposals and vote seamlessly without leaving the scene
Daily quests to earn extra points
DAO Data visualization as art objects. e.g Growing tree to show monthly income.
Scene manager. Admin tool with Web3 authorization based on DAPPCRAFT CMS
Voting Yes - Great proposal, transparent budget, and love the “vote to earn” gamification aspect. I look forward to the dynamic boards and data visualizations of the grant activity!
I’d just encourage to incorporate an event/stream area in the park outside of the auditorium. Best of luck!
The “vote to earn” aspect actually scares me… voting in the DAO is something I take very seriously, and I never vote until I have thoroughly read the entire proposal, looked at feedback from the DAO Discord, and researched the project if they are new to me. What safeguards would you put in place to prevent people from just voting to unlock their higher Superhero level for the free rewards, and not actually doing the research required behind each grant? I could see more users just blanket-vote-farming to get their rewards.
I believe the end goal should not be to just to increase the act of voting in the DAO, but to increase active participation in the DAO.
The design itself looks good but everything else superficial like the vote to earn, the custom admin dashboard or the video server hosted exclusively by dappcraft make me vote no.
We need a DAO HQ that can work forever, not something we need to rely on a third party continuously to keep working.
I am definitely liking this proposal. Look cool. Involved in Decentraland. Price. However, the concerns mentioned above will need answered before I vote.
Thank you for providing such great detail around your vision. This one was tough because the presentation is professional, and the vision is clear. The Halloween build and challenges have been one of my favorites to date. There is no doubt that you are a top team for this project. However, Canessa is on to something with the concern around voting to earn. For me I chose to select another bid mostly because of this reason. I look forward to what you create and build in the future.
Jenn
Thanks for your comment Canessa! We would like to make the reward symbolic rather than financial. That it would be a reputation component in the first place.
Of course, we take voting seriously. This feature can be implemented without financial rewards, for example, we can implement it through reputation levels. These levels can be displayed on the DAO HQ location.
Hey there DedHeadL! Thanks for your feedback As I mentioned above, we would like to make the reward symbolic rather than financial. That it would be a reputation component in the first place. This feature can be implemented without financial rewards, for example, we can implement it through reputation levels. These levels can be displayed on the DAO HQ location.
We’d be happy to hear your feedback on this idea
Hello, thank you for your reply. I believe that you create your own reputation through participation, attitude, words, feedback, etc. and not through a voting measure. The DCL structure that you have created is modern, creative and would sustain long term growth however I would not like to have a reputation system tied to anything other than my personal self (sometimes shitty) but not around voting.
Thanks a lot for your interest, support and comments. Our team appreciates it very much!
Here are clarification regarding two main concerns from the side of community - VOTE to Earn Mechanic and technical dependence on third party:
“VOTE” TO EARN. We’ve proposed the Vote to Earn Mechanic idea because there is a successful example of using a similar mechanic in the Aavegotchi universe. Aavegotchi managed to create one of the most active DAOs in the world by implementing an XP earning system for voting. You can learn more about their system here: Aavegotchi Governance: Voting as a Member of the World’s Most Active DAO | The Curve
We believe that such a mechanic will not greatly affect those who have a strong voting power and those who are accustomed to thoughtful voting. In our view, there is no need to fear a bias towards mass unconscious voting. However, there is a chance to increase the overall level of involvement in this process, attract more people who will vote. By increasing overall activity, quality can ultimately be improved in the future. New voting participants do not necessarily have to turn into formal voters who are only hunting for points. They can also become thoughtful and conscious members of the community. This already depends on the internal life of the community, reactions, events, updates.
We consider the Vote to Earn practice to be super successful and believe that it will work in DCL and raise interest in voting. However, we will not insist if the DAO does not like this idea.
We can conduct an individual vote to decide whether to remove or keep this part if the community is interested. Otherwise, we will simply remove this part.
TECHNICAL Decentralization. We do not have a task to monopolize technical support and scene service. As we mark in the application, all the code will be open source. The part that will require server deployment will be documented so that any team can do this.
We understand the importance of decentralization. Therefore, we welcome any ideas that will minimize influence/dependence on the third party. So please share you ideas how we can improve this part.
Ahah, please.
We all know noone else will maintain.
Opensource doesn’t mean decentralized.
The best way to decentralized this project is to not have useless features that rely on servers and to get rid of the servers altogether
Hey, I abstained on every proposal except one because how can I vote YES on multiple bids unless there is room for more than one? Nothing personal team, I just preferred another proposal. I wish you all the best in what you create, I know it will be top notch just like @lastraum idea which is who I voted YES for. I am still usure around the voting to earn tokens but look forward to better understanding how that will work.
So this project is definitely looking nice, and everything. Quite lovely futuristic-looking buildings
But the “VOTE” TO EARN feature should seriously be reconsidered. It would cast a very frightful light on what Decentraland is all about.
The issue with low voting participation is low voting participation from those who can actually actuate a Proposal.
The issue is not low voting participation from the gaming slice of the DCL community ! Who will most likely not even have any VP to vote with, as participating in governance is not for what they are coming to DCL in the first place.
“VOTE” TO EARN may be fine for a toy DAO like Aavegotchi, but the DCL DAO has a significant amount of funding to distribute quarterly, which makes this a much much more serious business. It should not be conceptually connected to principles of gaming.
The only thing that should influence any kind of voting here is the expectation of what it will do for the value of MANA.
If gaining “XP” is the deciding factor making someone having a lot of VP finally go vote, then perhaps they really shouldn’t be enticed into voting in the first place, and another solution should be found to whatever problem their apathy may be causing.
“VOTE” TO EARN for the DCL DAO is a very scary idea indeed !
And aside from that, I also agree that it is a bit preposterous if the HQ of a decentralized entity end up relying so heavily on the kind of server hosting that appears to be suggested.
As an “opinion” - it’s fine.
But definitely not as “the only way forward.”
At the very least, there needs to be a separate vote among those who actively participate in the DAO to find out - in THEIR view, would THEY find it more fun/interesting if they received some additional perks for their work, or do they not care and are against it?
As an active participant in other DAOs, I can speak for myself - I would 100% be FOR receiving “some” perks for my activity.
What exactly these “rewards” are is a separate and secondary question.
