Introduction

This month we focused on mainnet release and tournament mode for Halloween.

Highlights

As you know, CROSSVERSE has gone through a challenging path due to the freezing of the grant. We launched more than a year ago, and after a few months, the funding was halted due to the unpreparedness to release smart wearables. We had to somehow keep the team together and expenses were paid by DAPPCRAFT. We conducted tests on our own version of Decentraland at play.crossverse.world, where smart wearables were enabled by default. This task was not included in our original plan and roadmap.

After more than 6 months our funding was restored, we had to shift priorities and create a playable P2P version. We had to change the roadmap and sacrifice the Laboratory Hub and perform the SDK7 migration, which was not part of our original plans and roadmap.

We focused on PvP tournaments and were pleasantly surprised by the positive impact this had on player engagement during alpha testing, an outcome we hadn’t anticipated. Considering the limited demand from the client side of CROSSVERSE (traffic customers willing to pay), we decided it would be more prudent to allocate our resources to further develop this aspect at the expense of the client part. Nonetheless, we are committed to working on the client side, but it will be pursued in the next phase of our project.
We organized a tournament for Halloween and released it on the mainnet.

Next, we need to improve PvP and grow the player base. For this, we ask to unfreeze the remaining $10k of the grant, as was originally agreed.

Update #13

INTRODUCTION

This month, we continued to focus on expanding our player base and enhancing the overall CROSSVERSE experience as well as expanding our marketing efforts.

HIGHLIGHTS

Halloween PVP Tournament on Mainnet: We successfully launched our Halloween experience on decentraland.org domain. The tournament took place as a grand finale of Halloween '23 and had a unique storyline.

In the updated PVP mode for the tournament, we’ve added a team mode. Players were automatically enrolled in one of the teams Zombie radio Inc. or Vamp radio corp. According to the story, the two teams competed to spread their propaganda in Decentraland by setting up radio towers, and could also hack neutral towers and towers belonging to the opposing team.

To simplify the onboarding process, we updated the PVP mode, adding rules and storyline sections, where players could learn the storyline and tournament rules.

We received positive feedback about the themed experience from the community, here are some of the posts:

To ensure that the greatest number of players have access to the experience, we have temporarily endowed the Bat Orlock smart wearable by DAPPCRAFT with Hyp-0 functionality for the duration of the tournament.

Developing Interactive Onboarding Process for PVP Mode: To simplify the user journey and reduce onboarding time, we have started working on an interactive onboarding process for PVP mode. The interactive process is based on quest mechanics and allows new players to learn the basic rules and actions in the game in a gamified way.

Xmas-themed AR tournament: We started preparing a thematic experience for Christmas, adding a festive touch to the CROSSVERSE world. We plan to use this experience as a testbed for a new onboarding process and new game mechanics based on community feedback.

Hyp-0 OS v. 0.6.0 Update: We are working on the Hyp-0 OS v. 0.6.0 update, which will introduce new features and enhancements to improve the overall user experience as well as add a new feature for the teleportation mode.

Expanded Cross-Marketing Efforts: We have expanded our cross-marketing efforts to reach a wider audience and attract more players to CROSSVERSE.

Player Feedback Analysis: We have gathered and analyzed feedback from players after the Halloween Tournament, which is helping us to identify areas for improvement and further refine the CROSSVERSE experience.

CROSSVERSE presentation at Brick by Brick: We presented CROSSVERSE at the Brick by Brick builders club session on the DAO Discord server, showcasing our progress and gaining valuable insights from the Decentraland community.
