This is Joke / Troll Proposal, right?

Thank you for your suggestions.

It looks like the proposal should be edited to include those items. :+1:t6:

This VERY real.

I might add that it is always a good sign when people think that a person’s vision is a joke :star_struck:.

Historically, that has always been true in my experience. For example, when Twitter first launched in 2006, people thought it was a joke and wouldn’t last. I don’t need to tell you that Twitter has over 400 million users globally, now.

More than ten years ago, JC Lamkin believed in Twitter’s vision and teamed up with local business support organizations to teaching Main Street small business owners how to use Twitter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqbzjUPSv90 She believed in Twitter’s vision and supported it with her own development and evangelist efforts.

When JC Lamkin was one of the first on air radio shows that ALSO podcasted, people laughed. “Why would anyone want to listen to people talk about technology on the radio? What a nerd!”, people said. Well, JC Lamkin went on to interview Rev RUN from Run DMC during the Technically Speaking Radio program, https://tsr.gltmypc.com/radio/23Aug2008/ : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGnY2HSyJv0 NASA, Microsoft and bring tech information to neighborhoods across the world.

More recently, she has inspired others to brave the COVID depression by facilitating online mental health workshops, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyC1iIp-n-s (which by the way is a special feature proposed for the Decentraland game )

And, the realism that will be shared in the game is unmatched. For example, this actual picture of a teen girl having been shot down in the streets of Highland Garden shares a peek at the reality faced by many, but few ever see. It’s one of the game’s central character’s challenges to prevent this from happening.

If it is so real, it doesn’t look like the time was taken to write the proposal out. There is no breakdown of funds. Roadmap is meaningless because we have no clue what each phase consists of. From an author, I was expecting much more details here. You are asking for a lot of money, can you share how many developers, sound techs and Web3 artists are needed. How many will be on the Admin Team?

I see you claim to be a certified PMP. Are you using PMBOK to come up with a project management plan. Will you be using a Gantt Chart? Will that be provided? Can you show your plan in its entirety?

This is not personal. However, if you expect the community to take your grant seriously, this should be very well thought out and written out. The story sounds very interesting. This can be a great proposal, however how can we take this seriously, if you didn’t take the proposal seriously enough to write all the details out?

Lastly, my question for all proposals:
Will you commit to sharing all invoices and receipts?

Thank you for your feedback. Believe it or not, it helps a great deal.

The project itself has been thoroughly detailed from a creative perspective. We have even confirmed a company that has pledged to barter on some of the technical services needed. I can see the need to more comprehensively unpack the project administratively. And, yes, to the question regarding invoices/receipts. That is actually one of the reasons why the admin component was mentioned in the proposal.

Regarding the Project Management cert, I was hoping people would use the Project Management Institute’s verification system to confirm the PMP standing because it helps the Institute to see those metrics.

Your other suggests were spot-on, as another poster mentioned some of the same suggestions.

Also, you may have noticed that the Project Lead is Google verified, but in addition to that, she has had the honor of earning the State of Pennsylvania’s contracting approvals, too:

In closing, if Decentraland ever wanted to be a part of a project that is poised to deliver a Noble Peace prize and Pulitzer, this project is it!

“RAPISTS”

Really? And what will happen if they catch the character? Are you suggesting we use DAO funds to bring rape content to Decentraland? UNACCEPTABLE

As you may know, misogyny is at the core of many of the conflicts that arise in neighborhoods like Highland Garden. As scary as the truth is, many women live in silent terror and have no idea how to escape.

What is amazing about this project that is that it teaches users how to more honestly observe to thwart these horrific actions of barbarism and defeat it at its core, instead of simply ignoring it, making excuses or victim blaming.

For example, if someone were to observe the below picture of cars purposely blocking the author in to prevent her from leaving her home, they may simply blow it off and not see it as a type of gross domestic violence or as an underlying effort to strip her of her liberty, to attempt to frustrate her, intimidate her and “keep her in her place”.

The edutainment project, “Escape from Highland Garden” is a roadmap that helps to reveal these insidious covert microaggressions, solve these issues and free minds.

“Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence.” — Genesis 6:11 NIV

We all know the story of Noah and how God saw how the people were living and how corrupt they had become. God was disappointed in the way they were living. So, he decided to start over and create a new world.

He knew that Noah was dedicated to him, so God told Noah to build an ark that would hold his family and two of each animal. Noah obeyed God and started building the ark according to God’s way.

As Noah started the building phase, according to children’s book, the people on the ground were laughing at him at what he was doing. They couldn’t understand what he was doing and why. So, all they could do was laugh at Noah and his family. Noah told them that it was going to rain for 40 days and 40 nights. The people who were watching said it wouldn’t rain that long and didn’t believe Noah. So, instead of helping and coming aboard, they just watched and laughed.

The day came to get aboard the ark with animals and family members. Noah still urged the people to get on, but they wouldn’t. After Noah and his family and the animals boarded, the rains came. God closed the door and shut it tightly. The people then understood then what was going on, but and it was too late to get on board the ark. It started to rain, but Noah and his family was safe and everything on board the ark. God made sure that everything was done according to his instructions and everyone was on board for the 40 days and nights. They took care of each other, the animals and fowl of the air.

People are doing the same thing as they were doing while Noah was building the ark. When people heard about Jesus Christ coming back, they started and are still laughing and don’t believe Christians. They laugh when they are told that we need to know that he will be coming back to get all of his people. People laughing at the idea of Jesus Christ coming back don’t believe. Instead they have their own way. As He did with the flood, God will soon lock the door to heaven, and everyone outside will soon see that it was true, that Jesus Christ did come back.

Yes, heaven doors will be closed and all believers will get in. They are still trying to tell people that soon it will be too late to get in. Some people do not want to hear the message. God loves us all, and he wants his followers to deliver his message to non-believers.

Do you have a message for non-believers telling them about Jesus Christ and his return to gather his people? We don’t know when he will return, but we must be ready and keep looking for his return.

Are you ready for His return?

I don’t feel comfortable with including the content of rape with an “Edutainment Project”.

Education: Yes
Entertainment: No

May I ask if you have consulted with any organizations such as the:

National Sexual Assault Hotline
National Sexual Assault Hotline: Confidential 24/7 Support | RAINN
National Sexual Assault Survivors Resource Center
Sexual Assault Survivors’ Resources | National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC)
Enough Abuse Campaign
Survivor Support - Enough Abuse

If you have worked in close collaboration with vetted resources that believe operating a game such as this is a beneficial form of therapy, you would need to communicate this much better in your proposal. Otherwise I fear it runs the risk of retraumatizing rape victims, and seems like a game masking itself as an educational project. Besides that, this is a large sum of money, and without knowing more about you, your project, your connections in Decentraland, I would have a hard time supporting it with a yes vote.

Thank you, @ArtReYou

That was powerful validation.

You know, I get affectionately clowned a lot because my initials are “J.C.” (like, Jesus Christ’s) and my last name “Lamkin”, like kin to the Lamb of God; but, my initials stand for “Josie Cheri” and I’m far from a saint. For example, I’m extremely lacking in humility.

This is one reason why I try to narrow my focus regarding what projects I take on. I don’t want anyone to get the idea that just because I’m pragmatic, I’m perfect.

Thank you, also for your feedback.

I think that I have learned a lot from this thread. I’ve realized that this proposal is severely under-budgeted. I’m considering letting this proposal expire and submitting a softer proposal. That is, I have a wearable art project that would probably be better received.

I should mention that the project “Escape from Highland Garden” isn’t rape-focused. But, I do understand why some would feel the need to focus on that component to avoid acknowledging how refreshing it is to see an initiative that bridges the gap between pretense of community development and actual change.

For example, while many have thankfully found support in the groups you have mentioned, the reality is that many more have experienced an intense pressure to stay in support of horrifying situations that defy human imagination. Such as social workers turning their clients into prostitutes as seen here: A former Delco child services caseworker got probation for coercing a client into sex work

Most of the community organizations I have worked with are grassroots and focused on Restorative Justice and tangible results. For example, Reconstruction Inc., https://www.reconstructioninc.org/

You see, the truth is no longer avoidable. Thanks to the internet/social media, people are witnessing a common theme. Violence is not just about individual groups. It’s about the underdevelopment of the human agency and people convincing themselves that they are making a change when they’re really just keeping everything the same, which this project helps to address and sensibly resolve.

This project brings together seasoned community activists, family therapists, DISC Assessment Coaches and developers. It is certainly testament to the good that can be done when technology is used properly and significantly help Decentraland stand out and reach its goal of expansion.
