Hi everyone,
We’re back with our monthly update from Regenesis Labs, the execution arm of the Decentraland DAO. As part of our commitment to transparency and alignment with the community, we’re sharing the latest updates on hiring, legal/ops, financials, and ongoing projects.
Scope of this update: Aug 1 – Aug 31
Starting this month, we’re also keeping our operational budget more visible. In addition to the living roadmap for hiring, projects and funding we’re sharing a financial transparency dashboard that gets updated every hour with any transactions made from the Regenesis Labs Treasury or the Operational Wallet.

Hiring
-
Product Manager (R&D Team) — Hired! We’re happy to welcome Rodrigo Paillet. Rodrigo brings experience from Maxis, where he worked on The Sims Mobile for three years, as well as from Mercado Libre and Google. He’s also an indie game developer who has designed experiences in multiple UGC platforms. Rodrigo will lead product for the mobile client, with a focus on user experience, onboarding, and retention. He was hired in August and starts the second week of September.
-
Engineering Leadership — Onboarding. Gonzalo Pombo officially starts in September. He’ll partner closely with the R&D team, map/triage the DAO’s technical infrastructure (governance platform, transparency page, etc.), drive maintenance work where needed, do research on creator tooling and SDK features, and lead hiring for two developer roles on the R&D team. During August he’s been doing onboarding sessions with the team while transitioning from his role on the DCL Foundation.
Legal & Operations
-
Cayman entity — incorporated. The Regenesis Labs Foundation is now formally incorporated in the Cayman Islands. We’re ready to issue contracts with contributors and collaborators and get into agreements with third-party providers for services and tools.
-
Operational wallet security improvement. Following a DAO Committee suggestion, we adjusted the operational multisig: added one signer and removed a second key from the same person to avoid key concentration and unnecessary risks. The multisig now has three signers with one key each.

Finance Transparency
-
Transfers: No transfers from the Regenesis Labs Treasury to the Operational Wallet during August.
-
MANA diversification. We executed a TWAP strategy (14 transactions over 7 days every 12 hours) in the Regenesis Labs Treasury in August as part of our previously defined diversification plan. We swapped 2,000,000 MANA for 584,582.72 USDT with an average swap price of 0.29 (+11.5% from break-even price) \
-
Yield deployments. We deposited 654,285.15 USDT from the Regenesis Labs Treasury into the Smokehouse USDT vault using CoW Protocol via the Klin widget inside the Safe UI. (We’re planning to revisit this strategy to reduce fee costs in the future)
** -
Public Ops Dashboard. In response to recent transparency discussions, we published a public dashboard that provides an aggregated view of operations and finances available here: https://lookerstudio.google.com/s/lpx49taDF2Q
-
External audit planning. We’re evaluating options to set up an external auditing process and will share the proposed approach once we’ve selected a partner/scope.
Projects
Team Hub
We wrapped up feature development and finalized the initial scene package. The TeamHub scene functionality allows users to host team engagement sessions where Polls, Surveys and Q&A sessions can be held. In September, we’ll release it as a library and as a template on the Creator Hub. The goal is to make this an** engagement layer** that creators can drop into their scenes; once polished, we plan to adopt it in DAO Town Halls and offer it to Decentraland Foundation as a Slido replacement.
Here’s a quick demo for this scene:
The scene is deployed and can be tested at https://decentraland.org/jump/?realm=regenesislabs.dcl.eth
Clients& R&D
In August, built on top of July’s groundwork (stability, imposters/streaming, settings, and moderation primitives) to deliver new user-visible features, cross-client presence, and web-alpha readiness work.
Highlights
- Mobile UX leaps: profile editing shipped, nickname bubbles + chat over avatars and aim-to-interact model.
- Bevy progress: real-time minimap and a toggleable 3D Map; WebGPU renderer with precompiled shaders for smooth web performance.
- Release track: Apple App Store readiness tasks underway; Bevy Web Alpha preparation started.
Detailed Changelog
Summary
Mobile (Godot)
- Passport & Profile Editor: profile editing is now available on Mobile; targeting/hover adds a clearer highlight on aimed avatars.
- Chat & Presence UI:
- Nickname bubbles above avatars.
- Speech balloons (latest message floats briefly over the speaker).
- Interaction model: switched from tap-anywhere selection to aim-to-interact, reducing mis-taps.
- Performance
- Static scene compilation pipeline for faster loads & fewer hiccups
- Multi-avatar optimizations for smoother crowds
- Release readiness: continued work toward Apple App Store submission and compliance.
Web / Desktop (Bevy)
- Explorer UI in SDK7: continued building the client UI as an SDK7 scene with client control APIs (unblocks creator-grade UI).
- New user features:
- Notifications panel and outfits in backpack.
- Live minimap (top-down camera) and a 3D Map you can toggle from the minimap for immersive exploration.
- Rendering & performance:
- WebGPU renderer now paired with precompiled shaders to eliminate shader-compile hitches on the web.
Events & Community
“Bring your Vibe” Vibe Coding Hackathon
We kicked off planning for Bring Your Vibe, a hackathon to reactivate building in DCL Worlds and draw in new creators building with AI-assisted coding and modeling tools.
Timeline:
Kickoff (Oct 13–17)
Build (Oct 17–27)
Judging (Oct 28–Nov 8)
Awards (Nov 9)
We’ve hired community member ToxicWaifu as an external contributor to lead the event’s operations, community engagement, and comms strategy. It will feature hands-on workshops, social activations, and office hours to help teams ship fast and enjoy the ride. Submissions and judging will run on the DoraHacks platform for increased operational efficiency and to attract a new audience. We’re lining up a juicy prize pool (in MANA) with bonus awards for creative AI use and first-time builders. The focus KPIs: new creators deploying for the first time and social reach.
