Virtual Feedback Kiosk Idea

Hello Decentraland community!

I have an idea that I believe is a valuable contribution to Decentraland HQ and seems to fit the Decentraland 2025 vision.

I would really appreciate your feedback and assistance in possibly implementing this on a realistic scale.

Initiative: Virtual Feedback Kiosk and Research pod

please note, all images are conceptual and do not represent any final designs

Motivation:
Pinpointing users struggles along with their likes and dislike in a structured way, can be challenging. The kiosk enhances Decentraland’s user research and feedback processes by providing a direct, in-world data collection point where users can easily share their thoughts. Unlike forum discussions or external surveys, the kiosk offers real-time, location based feedback embedded within virtual experiences, making participation seamless and accessible.

Background:
The feedback kiosk and pod complements existing methods like governance proposals and developer feedback by gathering quantitative and qualitative insights through emoji reactions, surveys, user interviews and comment submissions. Additionally, businesses, creators, and Decentraland HQ can analyse trends instantly via interactive dashboards, enabling faster decision-making and adaptation based on user sentiment. By integrating with incentive systems such as token rewards or NFT giveaways, the kiosk also increases participation rates, ensuring a broader and more representative dataset for guiding platform improvements.

General use
• Users select an emoji- Happy :slightly_smiling_face:, neutral :no_mouth: or sad .
• Once the emoji is selected the user will have the option to add a comment.

Feedback Kiosk for Businesses

Use case for business/creator:
Painpoint: Alex runs a popular music festival in Decentraland, attracting thousands of attendees. However, engagement drops after events, and Alex struggles to understand what users enjoy most. He also wants sponsoring brands to see measurable ROI from their activations.

Action: By implementing feedback kiosks at his location, Alex gathers real-time user sentiment and structured insights to improve his music festival. Attendees share feedback through emoji ratings and comments at kiosks.

Result: This data helps Alex refine event planning and optimise artist lineups, and secure higher sponsorship deals by providing measurable audience engagement metrics. As a result, festival attendance increases by 30%, sponsors gain clearer ROI, and user retention improves through a more interactive and rewarding experience.

Features

  • The business can purchase or rent kiosks from the marketplace.

  • The business will have access to a screen showing the total emoji responses over time (e.g., daily, weekly trends)|

  • The business can access a comment dashboard in which includes a time filter.

  • The user’s score is displayed. Points are distributed depending on the substantiality of feedback the user has contributed to over time.

  • Businesses can subscribe to have comments analysed for trends, with recommendations made based on common feedback.

Feedback Kiosk and Pod for Decentraland HQ

User Story: Improving Decentraland’s Onboarding Experience
As a new user in Decentraland, Ava wants a more engaging and personalized onboarding experience so she can quickly discover points of interest that align with her interests.
To enhance onboarding, Decentraland HQ places feedback kiosks in key locations like Genesis Plaza, allowing newcomers to rate their experience, highlight pain points, and request assistance. Ava submits a rating and suggests a questionnaire or quiz to help direct users to the most suitable destinations. After submitting her feedback, she is invited to participate in a user interview, with the available reward displayed on-screen.
Ava schedules her session and logs in at the appointed time. Decentraland HQ has set up a user interview pod, where team members conduct one-on-one discussions with new users to gather deeper insights into their onboarding challenges. Meanwhile, a data dashboard tracks recurring feedback, helping developers refine tutorials, navigation tools, and user guidance.
As a result, new users like Ava receive tailored onboarding support, making it easier to explore Decentraland and feel engaged from the start. In turn, retention rates improve, and Decentraland becomes more accessible to a broader audience.

I personally never fully trust the outcomes of such kiosks but this is still a very good idea. Having a consistent system across DCL would benefit scene creators. Although, the incentive system should be thought very well, might even be removed.
