Mochi — a blob that Decentraland is raising together (Friendzone Buildathon)

Posting this partly as a submission and partly as a question I’d like the community’s help answering.

Decentraland Mobile has no reason to be opened twice. Worlds are venues: wonderful when full, dead when empty, which is almost always. You arrive alone, find an empty room, and nothing tells you anyone was ever there.
Every fix I could think of was a patch — schedule an event, hire a host, add a chat box — and all three fail the same way: they need other people online at the same moment as you, which is exactly what an empty world doesn’t have.

So instead of filling the room, Mochi carries the room’s history in its body.

Its size is the literal sum of every feeding. Its dance is a credited chain where each move belongs to a named person, replayed beside ghosts wearing their real wearables. Its plaque names the last carer. And when you come back, one line tells you who acted after you left — by name.

All of it works asynchronously. Two people who never meet still act on each other.

Open source, MIT: GitHub - edycutjong/mochi: 🍡 A giant pastel blob co-parented by every stranger who visits. Its size is the sum of every feeding; its dance is a chain taught, move by move, by named strangers. Decentraland SDK7, built for mobile. · GitHub

The help I’m asking for: Mochi only makes sense with people in it. If you feed it once and teach it one move, you become part of what the next visitor finds. I’d rather its history be genuinely yours than something I manufactured — the schema flags exactly which rows came from this invitation, and you can read that in the repo.

What a beautiful idea! You can really feel how much thought went into Mochi and into the question of how a social experience can still feel alive even when nobody else is online at that exact moment.Thank you for creating such a lovely experience. Feeding Mochi and knowing that my visit is now part of its story genuinely made me smile. It’s a small interaction but it gives you this feeling that you’ve added something small to something much bigger :purple_heart:
