Introduction

As we conclude this cycle, we sincerely thank everyone who participated and contributed. The learning and growth we’ve shared have been invaluable. Moving forward, we’re committed to improving how we fund the commons and support initiatives for the DAO and Decentraland. We will remain in maintenance mode to oversee the remaining grants, reducing the team but staying present until January 2025.

With gratitude,

Fifi, Zino & Pablo

Highlights

Here are the most important highlights of the month:

  • Here you can read a report in which we share info and our most significant insights and KPIs of this last grant period.
  • We participated in the Regenesis Summit in Lisbon. It was very interesting to listen to and discuss many of the DAO’s issues. We are working on contributing and improving the proposals based on the changes being suggested.
  • As we explained in the introduction, we are ending the Grant. We are very grateful to the community for their support and also a bit nostalgic because, for now, we won’t be submitting a renewal proposal for the grant given the current context of the DAO. We are wrapping up tasks and we decided to maintain an active presence to ensure the DAO is not left without representation to oversee the final active grants. We are reducing the team without disappearing entirely before January 2025. In this regard, given that the workflow was lower than expected in recent months and that we have some remaining funds.
  • We are monitoring all the active projects.

Thank you for reading and supporting our work.

Please stay in touch with us via our Discord Thread.

Please continue reading our metrics in the additional notes section

Constructive comments are always welcome

Best regards,

Fifi, Zino & Pablo

Blockers

The probable deprecation of the grants program and the upcoming changes within the DAO are a blocker for some of the tasks we had on the Roadmap. However, we believe these changes will be positive, and that our analysis and role have been crucial in driving these changes. The current grants program, as we know it, has countless issues that we have been dealing with on a daily basis.

Next steps

  • We decided to stay in a maintenance mode to oversee the remaining grants to ensure the DAO is not left without representation to oversee the final active grants. We are reducing the team without disappearing entirely before January 2025. Ping @palewin if you have any inquire.
  • Promotion for grantees in the Decentraland Blog will continue to be produced.
  • Continue onboarding new projects funded through the DAO , assigning grant managers and analyzing the feasibility of their roadmaps.
  • Provide support to the current grantees with their problems and requests.
  • Analyze cases that raise concerns and, eventually, ask for pauses and elevate them to the DAO Committee.
  • Testing Tuesday won’t be held.

Additional notes and links

Here is the status update on activities of the month, along with the impact metrics on our proposal based on our three main goals:

Goal 1: Support the grantees

  • We are actively working with 11 projects nowadays: 2 Onboarding projects, 4 active projects, 2 projects within pause periods and 3 are ending their grant journey (all of them owe us information and that’s why the GSS is following them).
  • Here you can see the list:

External Image

  • We allocated a total of 36.5 hours to interact with grantees, and provide support during this month.
  • Testing Tuesdays: Here is the Public Notion Page of our Testing Sessions to provide transparency on the actions of this initiative. 2 Testings are planned for October and the final one in November.

Goal 2: Foster transparency

  • We are making public roadmaps with the main goal of opening our reviewing process. This month we have updated 8 public roadmaps with our grantees.
  • GSS 2024 H2 Public Roadmap.
  • We are always encouraging grantees to make their monthly updates, and you can check those out in the dAPP.
  • Every Monday the GSS is sharing the planned tasks for the week in our Discord Thread.

Goal 3: Guarantee an efficient use of the DAO treasury

  • There are 2 grants with contracts paused due to delays in their projects.

Note on the financial report: the last release of the contract, which has not yet been made, corresponds to the payment of some pending items that have not yet been paid (contractors, blogs, admin fees, etc.), and the rest will be used to support the reduced team until the end of the year.
