Linked Pre-Proposal
Create an RFI Process to Obtain Information from DAO Officials
Summary
A proposal to establish a formal RFI process for the community to submit questions to DAO bodies/officials and request relevant information for clarification and decision-making.
Abstract
This proposal creates a formal “Request for Information (RFI) - DAO” process so community members can submit questions and receive trackable, public responses from DAO bodies and officials. It reduces information gaps and establishes a clear response timeline, improving transparency and helping the community make informed decisions.
Motivation
- No single, trackable channel
Community questions to DAO bodies and officials are scattered across the Forum, Discord, and other channels, making it difficult to track requests or find past answers.
- Unknown or unavailable information prevents informed participation
Some details about DAO operations can be unclear or unpublished, which makes it harder for the community to submit and evaluate proposals as well as vote with confidence.
- No response or unclear response timing
DAO officials currently have no defined expectation to answer requests for specific DAO-related information within a set period.
- Proven precedent: DAO - Foundation RFI
The DAO has already used an RFI procedure to get answers from the Decentraland Foundation, with many inquiries logged and answered. Extending a similar process to internal DAO bodies builds on an established, community-trusted approach.
Specification
Support Desk
All DAO RFIs are handled through Support Desk entries. The Support Desk is responsible for:
-
organizing and refining submissions for clarity
-
prioritizing questions based on community vote
-
forwarding top questions to the relevant DAO body/official
-
confirming response feasibility
Channel & Workflow
-
Forum Category: Create a “Request for Information - DAO” category on the Decentraland Forum.
-
Submission Window: RFI threads remain open for 30 days using the predefined template.
-
Ranking: After submissions close, a 14-day community voting period ranks questions; highest-liked questions are prioritized and forwarded to the targeted DAO body/official.
-
Response Deadline: The targeted DAO body/official has 30 days to publish a public answer on the Forum / Governance dApp.
-
Follow-Ups: A 3-day window after the response allows clarifying questions; additional questions require a new RFI.
RFI Submission Template
-
Title
-
Requester (DCL username, ENS, or wallet address - optional)
-
DAO Target Body (SAB | Wearable Curation Committee | DAO Council | Executive Arm)
-
Request Purpose (why this information is needed)
-
Questions (general or specific DAO-related questions)
-
References (links, images, or documents supporting the request)
Conclusion
Implementing the DAO RFI process will create a trackable way for community members to receive timely, public responses from DAO governing bodies. Community questions will be logged, prioritized, and answered within a defined timeframe.
This is a non-binding Draft Proposal to assess community sentiment. If approved, feedback and insights will be solicited to refine and finalize the governance points.
