[DAO:a656ea8] Clickable web browser component

I don’t need two monitors for two or more alts or whatever scam you are suggesting. Please speak for yourself if you want to add things YOU can do with whatever.

Also, I was listing things you didn’t have to do, as in perks to having an in client browser … not how to use 2 monitors to exploit and scam, lol.

Will it display a html file, integrate standards, or will the ‘sites’ be constructed with home made coding? Also, I see a URL… a server can output the file to the UI panel?

I have doubts it can be done in 1 month for reasons such as:

  • File parsing
  • Element placement
  • Element links and actions
  • Integration with HTML, CSS and others
  • External links
  • Exporting the code to be usable by others
  • General purpose of this
  • Future proof solution

Although off-topic I will try to answer …
… I think we are keeping more than 1% … depending on how you measure it, monthly, annually, … that number is since the start of development, total number of visitors. in 2022 explorer was broken and it has been bad for our game, however we kept working without grants, we have peaks, 2 days ago top 1 scene with all non-afk players and a good group playing multiplayer together and having fun pretty smooth.

About “sh*tty cash grabs” well, you can use an asterisk but your message is clear, this proposal represents 0.003% of DAO funds … it will be hard for you to find smaller proposals, and you won’t find that many developers accepting the work conditions, with you complaining about everyone creating the better work environment of the road to success of Decentraland.

Yes it can be done the way I answered to @HPrivakos

Don’t worry if it’s not done it will be revoked before I can retrieve the funds at the end of the month.

That’s correct.
A first version will be delivered, and the community or myself can add more features later. Videos are not something I think will be easy to integrate, don’t count on that.
But you can use any super easy website builders and provide interactive information inside decentraland in an easy way, I think this is the main benefit for a low price.

I was joking about Eve Online, calm down.
Sounds like you never actually played it that much if you don’t get the references.

Right, I didn’t realize it at the time … true you could multi-box or probably do scams in Jita. I like how you jump right to I never played, lol. I played almost entirely in Null Security space (lawless space) and wormholes … I did exploration stuff in Eve Online in “free for all” space … about as far away from Jita as I can get … and I rarely went there tbh. I had a builder to sell all my space junk/loot to in Null Security space. I’d get lost in wormholes and just keep scanning and going, lol. I piloted mostly an Astero.

Also, most other people won’t know you are referencing a town in a game either and possibly think it not favorable. I’d just appreciate it if you didn’t associated me with scams.

Hola, me encanta la propuesta y confío plenamente en el compromiso del desarrollador hacia DCL. Si no he entendido mal. ¿ se podría interactuar con otra web desde la land de DCL? por ejemplo… yo podría jugar desde DCL en mi plataforma de ajedrez favorita? en este caso lichess

Hi, I love the proposal and I fully trust the developer’s commitment to DCL. If I understand correctly, could I interact with another website from DCL land? for example… I could play from DCL in my favorite chess platform? in this case lichess.

It’s technically possible…

For a first version I was thinking to only update the view when the user interacts, in this case, we would need to send a signal to the user to update the view when the page changes, that is when the other player makes a movement… so it’s possible as well, maybe as a configuration option.

Be honest :stuck_out_tongue:
He won’t be able to login to his own lichess account because there is no text input, and even if you add that, he would be giving you his login creds and while technically possible it’s quite a bit more work as the initial plan.

I tested it and you don’t need login.

Trolling people to stroke your ego is not “working for free”

Criticizing people who fail takes much less effort than actually building something of value

Lets not talk about ego, lets don’t make it personal, cos you can hear/read things that gonna put you back in mental ill state. I throw sh*ts against thiefs and con-artists and their supporters. I’m your Robin from Decentraland.

Now, to be more clear:

For me this is another CASH-GRAB proposal. We can clearly see where the support for this is coming from.

Your comment is not a good example of not making it personal…

You are insulting all people who voted yes here and you are insulting me professionally, then you will complain that there are no users in Decentraland, and this is how you contribute to fix it.

The amount requested is cheap and proposes a feature for the platform that is necessary.

Come on, guys, are you srs? If someone felt insulted, maybe there’s ‘hidden reason’ which the insulted person cant realize. Maybe there’s something deep the rabbit (grants) hole.

In summary - DCL is almost DEAD, we all know the reasons:

  • Cash Grabs
  • Lies (most times - DAU)
  • Pseudo experts
  • Web2/TradFi experts
  • Poor development
  • Poor leadership
  • Many COPYRGHT issues
  • ETC
  • THATS A LONG LIST

Giving money to random people for their html/js skills wont solve the problem.

Sorry if you felt insulted. Sorry.

Taking a page from jar0d’s playbook, are we? That’s classy. You sure did prove me wrong about just how much you’re contributing around here!

So, do you think Decentraland will be more successful without a browser feature? Do you think without grants Decentraland would have been more successful?

I’m curious from what own expertise you can talk. Have you participated in building or managing any successful product, business, or marketing campaign?

For me, there were some key points to improve:

  • Lack of engaging content, cool events but without a base content to engage players.
  • Disconnection from the community.
  • Stability on the explorer, more than any performance problem. Something broken is unusable.

Then some points are being improved:

  • Content: not being addressed right now.
  • Community: The marketing team is doing amazing and inspiring work this year. Something I have not seen before.
  • Stability: I hope the new client will be stable, that’s more important than any graphical or performance issue. I think and I hope this is being addressed today.

Regarding html/js skills … I think it doesn’t need to comment on how it sounds when maybe 90% of the code of Decentraland is JS.

I haven’t been able to vote on this yet but unfortunately I can’t get behind this effort, and here’s why:

Main reason: I think putting 2D websites in the spatial web is like equipping cars with a buggy whip (as in, for horses).

Secondary reasons mostly related to the fact that it will take a lot of work to come close to the functionality of the normal web, and HP brings up a good point about third party handling of login info. I think the user experience of browsing a 2D website in a 3D world is going to leave a lot to be desired.

I have no doubt in Pablo’s ability to build it in the best way it can be done, I’m just not a big fan of the user experience. I’m also imagining a future where VR support allows you to just pull up a web browsing window that’s built into your headset’s OS, which would make this obsolete.

What’s a metaverse without a web-browser ? On a Pre-Proposal Poll for this, I would absolutely vote Yes !
However, to vote Yes on a Proposal requesting funding, I think I’d like to see a working prototype first.

2D in 3D: AAA game companies still think is a good idea to show 2d screens in their games, the most immersive games do it. after all, text is a good way of transferring information but 3d text doesn’t contribute anything extra.

It’s just a small grant to cover a necessity I felt myself. An easy way of showing interactive information in your parcel when you already have a web. Most of the time we don’t log in web to look for info, to read a blog, or just to present your brand in your parcel; this without the need of leaving Decentraland, because the other option is to put an external link to drive the user out of decentraland.

Yeah, if there is a full-featured browser will be better, but there isn’t, and afaik there is no short-term plan to have it in the new client. Still, I think it is better to give the possibility to those who want to make use of it, rather than rejecting it to the user because there can be something better; for that reason, we could have nothing today, even not Decentraland.

I don’t think we have any negative part of having this feature, it just sums. Anyway, if current users don’t want the feature… no problem from me I’m working on other stuff, just sad for the possible future users.
