Update Status: On Time
Project Health: On Track
Introduction
Hello community!
This is our first update for this 6 month period. The DAO’s Grants Program is under thorough review, with 6 categories paused, and since the flow of grants is slowing, we’re taking this opportunity to adjust some internal processes and actively support new proposals to improve the fund allocation system. We’ve helped recover money for the DAO and participated in the DCL Summit by hosting a very interesting workshop.
This update covers the period from Apr29 to May24.
Thanks!
Highlights
Here are the most important highlights of the month and you can find at the bottom our metrics based on our main goals.
-
The GSS participated in the Decentraland Summit 2024 and hosted a workshop called “Rethinking the Grants Program,” which saw great community participation with over 30 attendees. We had the chance to meet active DAO community members and fellows from the Foundation. Here you can read more about it.

Revocations Committee Blog is published!
-
The Revocations Committee has 2 cases to resolve: Advertisement Platform and Duel Arena.
-
A Continuum of Entertainment & Education for Women & Minorities was revoked based on this recommendation. Consequently, the DAO recovered $ 12,500.
-
DecentralEd grant has finally refunded the rest of the funds to the DAO ($ 2,900). We consider it a very healthy action for the DAO when a project cannot be completed, to be able to assume the issue and return the unused funds. In this case, the total grant has been returned, even though the team had a couple of months of work, contributions to the DAO, and progress.
-
Last Shipping of the Onboarding Swag is done and more grantees are receiving it! We also gave away the DAO swags, which we still had in our possession, to the participants of the DCL Summit.
-
From the GSS, we are collaborating to include the best community projects funded by the DAO on the official Resources page: Decentraland Studios.
It has been a great month! Thank you for reading and supporting our work.

Additional notes and links
Here is the status update on activities of the month, along with the impact metrics on our proposal based on our three main goals:
Goal 1: Support the grantees
-
We are actively working with 31 projects nowadays: 16 active projects, 5 projects within pause periods and 8 are ending their grant journey - 2 uncompleted for now, and 8 already completed (all of them owe us information and that’s why the GSS is following them). All active projects now belong to the new grants framework and among them, 2 projects that comes from a tender.
-
Here you can see the list:
-
We allocated a total of 85 hours to interact with grantees, and provide support during this month.
-
This month we have identified 2 problems and request from grantees that were solved, and 3 old problems and requests were solved too.
-
Testing Tuesdays: Here is the Public Notion Page of our Testing Sessions to provide transparency on the actions of this initiative. This month we had 1 testing.
Goal 2: Foster transparency
-
Formal Requests are public, to provide transparency on the concerns raised, the status of the process and arguments.
-
We are making public roadmaps with the main goal of opening our reviewing process. This month we have updated 23 public roadmaps with our grantees.
-
We’ve created the GSS 2024 H2 Public Roadmap.
-
We are always encouraging grantees to make their monthly updates, and you can check those out in the dAPP.
-
Every Monday the GSS is sharing the planned tasks for the week in our Discord Thread.
Goal 3: Guarantee an efficient use of the DAO treasury.
- This month, we analyzed 3 concerns from grants, and 3 grants were elevated to the Revocations Committee. 2 are paused and still under analysis and 1 was already revoked by them. Additionally, there are 3 grants with contracts paused due to delays in their projects, and 1 contract was re-created because it presented a new roadmap. 1 grant was revoked and 1 refunded the DAO, consequently, the DAO recovered $ 15,400.
