Update Status: On Time
Project Health: On Track
Introduction
Hello!
This month was very peculiar as we began implementing the freeze of the non-platform categories. We onboarded the last grants that passed, continued monitoring 44 projects, and are planning all the improvements to the grants program looking forward, including a rethink of our approach for the renewal.
This update covers the period from Feb12 to march8.
Thanks!
Highlights
Here are the most important highlights of the month and you can find at the bottom our metrics based on our main goals.
- As the Freeze has passed and there were several doubts about how the implementation would be, we worked with the other core units on this proposal that has been approved IMPLEMENTATION Freeze All non-Platform Grant Spending. Based on the approval of the implementation, we are onboarding the 4 grants that were on hold because of it.
- We are working on Proposals to improve the DAO Grants Program. Draft : Establish as a requirement to Report Performance Metrics
- In parallel, there was a very enriching Open Session about the improvements we can make in the Grants Program. Here is the board on which the community is working and on which we will base our proposals going forward.
- We are conducting the first evaluation of the financial reports requested in the updates to the grantees.
- The DecentralEd project finally resigned the grant, and consequently, the DAO recovered $ 27,000. . We are very sorry since they are a team highly committed to the platform and the community.
- e-sports grant : As we mentioned in [this message]([DAO:d0c373f] Building a Web3 Esports Epicentre in Decentraland - #21 by palewin), we wanted to make sure that the project complies with DCL’s Terms and Conditions and Policy of contents. Now you can see the next steps of the process.
- The Protocol Squad continues to do a great job. In the next Testing Tuesday on March 19th, they will present the first version of the functional mobile client of Decentraland. Don’t miss it!

Additional notes and links
Here is the status update on activities of the month, along with the impact metrics on our proposal based on our three main goals.
Goal 1: Support the grantees
- We are actively working with 44 projects nowadays: 2 projects still onboarding, 25 active grants, 2 projects within pause periods and 15 are ending their grant journey - 2 uncompleted for now, 1 revoked, 10 already completed and owe us information (that’s why the GSS is following them) , and the last 2 haven’t finished yet. All active projects now belong to the new grants framework and among them, the first project that comes from a tender.
- Here you can see the list:
- We allocated a total of 81.5 hours to interact with grantees, and provide support during this month.
- This month we have identified 4 problems and requests from grantees 2 of them were solved by our team and 2 is still in progress.
- Testing Tuesdays: We have opened a Public Notion Page of our Testing Sessions to provide transparency on the actions of this initiative. This month we had 1 grant.
Goal 2: Foster transparency
-
Formal Requests are public, to provide transparency on the concerns raised, the status of the process and arguments.
-
We are making public roadmaps with the main goal of opening our reviewing process. This month we have updated 31 public roadmaps with our grantees.
-
We’ve updated the GSS Public Roadmap.
-
We are always encouraging grantees to make their monthly updates, and you can check those out in the dAPP.
-
Every Monday the GSS is sharing the planned tasks for the week in our Discord Thread.
Goal 3: Guarantee an efficient use of the DAO treasury.
- This month, we analyzed 2 concerns from grants, 1 is being analyzed, 1 is in the notifications stage and 0 grants were elevated to the Revocations Committee.
- Additionally, there are 2 grants with contracts paused due to delays in their projects, and 2 contracts were unpaused because they met their roadmaps.
- One grant was revoked (they resigned) and consequently, the DAO recovered $ 27,000.
Improvements to the Grants Program
- Proposals: See the highlights above on this update report.
- Grantees Metrics: We are gathering impact metrics along with the grantees, in compliance to the new requirements of the grant program framework voted earlier this year. However, each grant and category has its own unique characteristics that we are addressing in order to improve them.
Note regarding the financial report
- As mentioned in the proposal, since the proposal was approved 15 days later than expected (due to resubmission), the monthly payments correspond to the work for the month of February.
