Decentraland has bad access. You can’t play it in the browser on Ubuntu. It used to have browser access, but it was later removed. Why? Makes zero sense. This goes against what Decentraland’s ethos should be.
Graphics need updating. The animations and graphics engine haven’t changed in forever. It’s a shame, because the fundamentals are strong and the project is interesting, but it’s moving in the wrong direction.
This is something I’ve been trying to get attention with no luck. Linux or mobile should be first priority but instead all the effort went in a desktop client nobody asked. I like the new client, it works much better than the old one but it still doesn’t justify abandoning Linux and having a separate development path for mobile.
This also caused some identity crisis for Decentraland. It now feels like a game you can download, while in the past it felt more like a platform and a gate to metaverse.
Hey @jon, thanks for posting and sharing your concerns.
We’re actively working on everything you’re mentioning. There’s already a mobile version available to test on iOS and Android, and there’s also an open-source web explorer being developed that the community can try today.
I think everyone is pushing to make Decentraland as accessible as possible across platforms and entry points. We still have work ahead, but that’s where we’re heading.
