Should the following Tier 4: up to $60,000 USD, 6 months vesting (1 month cliff) grant in the Community category be approved?
Abstract
We want to purchases land and build a ‘meta cinema’ where community members can attend and watch socially conscious programming (long and short form) curated by our Decentraland space called Imagination 9. Having worked at a major film studio in non-theatrical distribution, we know how to navigate the difficult and confusing world of licensing content for ‘out of the box’ screenings.
Grant size
60,000 USD

Description
Our project will allow visitors of Decentraland to be entertained and educated through the films/series that will be shown in our environment, Imagination 9. Because we’ll curate socially conscious films (which we’ve been doing for movie theaters for years) will allow a positive environment for community members.
Specification
The overarching consideration here is content control. We will work with digital rights management developers to make sure all intellectual property is secure and properly distributed without stepping outside of the non-theatrical license.
Personnel
Our team will consist of major Hollywood studio executives that have decades of experience distributing content legally and safely through various channels. Our technical team has worked in several metaverse projects and has developed software to help push content through the various channels.
Roadmap and milestones
We have started the preliminary conversations with the major film studios to check the interest level of distributing their catalogs through Decentraland. We have assembled a technical team to start with the DRM (digital rights management) process, developers to help with the creation of the space and signed commitments with independent content creators to feature their content exclusively within our space.
We are predicting the space to be fully operational by the 1st quarter of 2023 with smaller rollouts of socially conscious content by the 3rd quarter 2022.
