[DAO: QmPcU3V] Adding Ramp Network as an additional on-ramp service provider

by 0xbec36da328823182350132e41099efc1bf1798d9

Should the following Tier 1: up to $1,500 USD in MANA, one-time payment grant in the Platform Contributor category be approved?

Abstract

Add Ramp Network as an additional on-ramp option for the marketplace to let users purchase $MANA and $MATIC.

The simple integration of Ramp would increase geo-coverage, lower the transaction fees, raise the purchase limits, simplify KYC for users and decrease dependence on a single provider.

Grant size

200 USD

Beneficiary address

Description

50+ countries covered
Users from an additional 50+ countries could easily purchase required assets on the spot. That’s a 150% increase in geo-coverage compared to the current one.

Lower transaction fees
Users could purchase $MANA and $MATIC at a much lower cost. Ramp charges 2.9% for card payments compared to the current provider’s 3.9-5.5% (depending on currency).

Almost 4x higher limits
Users could purchase 375% the amount of crypto through Ramp then the current provider. Monthly limits would increase from 20.000EUR to 75.000EUR.

Simplified KYC
With Ramp there’s no KYC required for <100EUR purchases, to make it easier for the community to purchase smaller amounts.
Ramp also has a large community of gamers thanks to its numerous partnerships with projects like Axie Infinity, DeFi Kingdoms, Pegaxy and more - those users already went through KYC with Ramp and they wouldn’t have to do it again when they’re getting started on Decentraland.

Having options
Giving the community the option to choose between providers without having to leave the marketplace.

Not having to rely on a single provider
So many things can go wrong, every provider has some downtime every now and then - don’t leave your users hangin’ when they’re about to buy that NFT. Have at least a backfall option.

Happier users from 50+ more countries could get started more easily and at a lower cost, and spend more thanks to the additional on-ramp. Less downtime, delays and having the option to choose.

This would impact the whole community, especially those who are new to crypto and/or to $MANA and Polygon.

Specification

Custom API keys for the integration will be provided by Ramp after the approval of this proposal. The DAO Committee should reach out to partner@ramp.network to receive them!

Suggested placement of Ramp:
User’s account page > ‘BUY’ option next to $MATIC and $MANA balance, just like the current provider.

Personnel

The simple API integration shouldn’t take longer than 20min - 2 hours. All technical details can be found in our docs at https://docs.ramp.network.

Roadmap and milestones

Quick Due Diligence check and signing our general framework agreement will be required. After completing this step, member of Ramp’s team will provide the custom API key.

We’re excited to support the community!

Good Morning

Thank you for talking the time to write up this proposal, Just have a couple general questions that I like to ask before even beginning to consider a yes vote.

  1. Are any of your team members actively engaging with the Decentrland community?
  2. Do you or your team members have your Decentraland Names Claimed? (I noticed the wallet you submitted the proposal with does not have a claimed name)

Hey SinfulMeatStick,

We just throw our first Metaverse party with Brave and Polygonal Mind yesterday! Check out the pictures on Twitter:

As for the names, we haven’t claimed them just yet, at least from the company account. But that’s something we’ll work on soon

Best,
Jacques.
