This Poll intends to gather community feedback on increasing VP Thresholds for Grant Request Proposals.
With the recent increase in participating VP, it is important that VP Thresholds reflect the continually evolving participation rates within the DAO to ensure decisions are made collectively and with broad community consensus.
Currently, Grant Requests have the following Thresholds:
Lower Tier: (Up to $20,000)
VP Threshold: 2M VP.
Higher Tier: (From $20,000 to $240,000)
Variable VP Threshold, using the formula: 1.2M + TOTAL_BUDGET * 40VP/USD .
How does your proposal solve rapid changes or massive changes in the participation rate of the platform going forward?
“With the recent increase in participating VP, it is important that VP Thresholds reflect the continually evolving participation rates within the DAO to ensure decisions are made collectively and with broad community consensus.”
You are proposing to address an “evolving” issue with a non-evolving solution to match… What difference in participation rate or numbers is meaningful enough to adjust voting thresholds up or down?
What new problems does your solution create?
Is there a formula that can go off of recent participation and adjust accordingly in any market that makes more sense?
It doesn’t nor is it the intention of this Poll, the current Thresholds model also does not account for fluctuations in participating VP. In the event that there is large changes to participating VP (up or down), we can always adjust again.
This would be up to the DAO to decide. Since the last adjustment of Grant Thresholds (DAO Grants Program - New Tiers & VP Threshold), Esteban alone has delegated ~12.5M VP to active community members.
Assuming we increase Grant Thresholds, if participating VP decreases significantly then it may become very difficult to reach these thresholds effectively freezing higher tier grants, definitely something to keep in mind as the duration of VP delegations are unknown.
I like this idea, happy to include it in the next stage of this Proposal if it passes.
