[DAO:ce98e7e] Reintroducing a Delegate and Delegator Voice Chat in the DAO Discord

by 0x7bbea9c18cd0541acab8c19da2b11d0c03faef1c (1Existence)

Overview:
I may be mistaken, but I recall that at one time, there was a voice chat (VC) session in the DAO Discord specifically for delegates and delegators. This platform provided an opportunity for delegates to present their case on why they should be delegated to and allowed delegators to ask specific questions, fostering a “get to know the delegates” atmosphere. The goal was to encourage the use of unused VP (Voting Power) and improve overall engagement.

This poll seeks to determine whether we should reintroduce such a VC session. If this had happened before and was beneficial, we could revive it to engage the community better, particularly those with significant VP that is currently not being utilized.

Objective:
The session would involve reaching out to as many community members as possible, especially those holding large amounts of unused VP. The VC could also be a platform for discussing the delegation process and brainstorming ideas on how to make it more efficient and accessible.

Your input will help us decide whether this initiative should be revived or if it was something that only existed in theory.

Thank you,

The meeting can be organized without a poll, no?

guess the poll is just to bring visibility to the matter

I voted “no” because I don’t think it would have much relevance right now, although I would support it in other circumstances.

Well maybe if something like the following occurrs or the DAO dissolves maybe but I feel it is still a good idea for delegators to know more about their choices.

  1. Improved On-chain Tools for Delegation:
  • Automated Delegation Process: If the DAO introduces an automated or improved system that simplifies the delegation process (such as a UI/UX improvement or smart contract solutions for delegating VP), a VC session might become unnecessary because delegators could easily choose delegates based on clear metrics or profiles presented in the platform.
  • Delegate Rating Systems: If a delegate rating or reputation system is implemented in the DAO platform itself, people may not need a live voice session to “get to know” the delegates. They would instead rely on these transparent metrics.
  1. Enhanced Community Engagement Tools:
  • Better Asynchronous Communication Tools: Tools like forums, delegate profiles, or even a better on-chain communication system between delegates and delegators could replace the need for synchronous VC sessions.
  • Platform for Written Q&A Sessions: If there’s a permanent space where delegates can consistently answer questions from delegators in writing, it might make a live VC session redundant.
  1. Decentralized Voting Structures:
  • Increased Delegate Efficiency: If the DAO evolves into a more efficient decentralized system, where large amounts of VP are already well distributed and actively utilized, then the need to address unused VP through such live engagement sessions might not be a priority anymore.
  • Smaller, More Autonomous Voting Groups: If the DAO splits into more specialized committees or sub-groups, it might reduce the need for large-scale VC sessions, as smaller groups could handle decision-making more effectively.
