This makes a lot of sense and shouldn’t really add a lot of overhead to projects. I don’t know how other grantees manage their projects (I’m sure everyone has their own style), but I would assume they also maintain sheets of all expenditures time/hrs worked to commission/contractor costs. Even if a lot of out-going payments are via off-chain transfers (some people just prefer being paid in fiat), just having the numbers without (in lack of a better term) definitive proof could be a useful tool to get a read on the general state of a project (i.e. if a project has spent most of its funding but there are not any visible deliverables and is not close to fruition we can see it is being mismanaged). Or maybe there reasonable are overages in some grants, in which case showing an accurate case of accounting would make an extension/reimbursement far more conceivable.

I think many members of the community will be a little surprised by the operating expenditures for the first month of any substantial grant: there is no intake of funding until the end of the first month, so a lot of those costs are either soaked by the initial grantee’s wallet or parties involved are working for promises (which is absolutely nerve-wracking). There is also a lot of back-loaded pre-proposal work that goes into properly preparing grants (planning, drafting, & design) required to ensure your team knows exactly what is being done, by whom, and under what schedule. Having more information openly available could be extremely beneficial for future grantees (even if it is just financial breakdowns of how much they should expect to soak if they want to put a proposal forward).

I think we should start with something easier and more obvious, which is requiring daily work logs for core units, squads and committee, something really common in remote job employments, that is, for each day, report in which tasks the employee worked and the amount of hours. In other grant cases is not that obvius because they are not “DAO employees”. There are free services like Toggl to make this.

Squads aren’t “dao employees” any more or less then any other grant.

but those don’t deliver a product. It’s a a continued work without delivery date. I think the difference is clear.
