Reasons for adding

Name: ChronoT

:ninja: About Me :ninja:

My name is Chrono T., and I am a multidisciplinary creator and biomedical scientist with first-author publications in Elsevier journals. During graduate school, I created a published open-source ImageJ macro script that automated the analysis of fluorescently labeled neurons, integrating an innovative labeling technique to improve accuracy and efficiency.

As President of a state microscopy society, I lead annual governance meetings, secure event grants, and organize a yearly scientific conference. I also coordinate “Kid’s Night,” an outreach event introducing children across the state to microscopy and inspiring interest in science.

Although my background is not directly related to decentralized autonomous organizations, tokenization, or metaverse platforms, I discovered Decentraland during my post-graduation cooldown period in Fall 2021. The potential of these technologies captivated me, and I realized this was the future I wanted to pursue by leveraging my education, skills, and creative energy.

I currently work as a research scientist and dedicate all available time to honing my skills in Decentraland. I am mastering Blender and SDK7 (TypeScript) to create immersive virtual experiences. I am also deeply passionate about coding and continuously expanding my knowledge by studying and leaning from test projects with Rust, Solidity, JavaScript, and other programming languages vital for Web3 development.

:scroll: Resume :scroll:

I create immersive environments where users can explore captivating narratives, interact with dynamic features, and connect through shared experiences. Through my YouTube tutorials, I am learning how to simplify complex building techniques in Decentraland, making them accessible to creators of all skill levels. My goal is to encourage others to bring their visions to life and discover the boundless possibilities of Decentraland.

In one project, I designed a neon-lit theater inspired by Metropolis and set in a lush jungle, creating a vibrant virtual cinema celebrating creativity and community. Another project, the Monument of Hidden Wisdom, is a towering structure inspired by ancient wonders like Machu Picchu, blending historical intrigue with futuristic design. At its base, behind a waterfall, I included The DCL Wildcat, a 2D game inspired by the classic snake game, featuring bonus effects and wearable rewards donated by various creators.

I also developed a story-driven wearable following two interdimensional siblings stranded in our dimension. This narrative merges blockchain technology with rich storytelling, as the characters work to return home. Expanding on their journey, I designed a quantum gaming wearable inspired by Polybius lore, allowing the siblings to play intergalactic games that maintain their neuronal integrity.

Lastly, I created an animated multiplayer roller coaster, offering a thrilling and visually stunning metaverse experience that combines storytelling with interactive design.

Each of these projects is more than just a creation; they are expressions of my dedication to digital artistry and storytelling. Through my work, I strive to inspire others to explore their creativity and contribute to the decentralized future we are building together.

One of my key contributions is the “Decentraland Demystified” series, which simplifies the process of creating in Decentraland. This educational initiative offers step-by-step tutorials that enable users to design wearables, build scenes, and incorporate interactive elements with the Creator Hub into their projects. By demystifying the creative process, this series empowers individuals to transform their ideas into reality and fosters a culture of innovation within the community.

 Vision Statement

I envision Decentraland evolving into an inspiring ecosystem where users are empowered to become creators, gaining valuable skills applicable to real-world careers. Even newcomers will be able to utilize a user-friendly, node-based system within the Creator Hub, enabling them to drag and drop functional code onto models. This will facilitate the easy creation of complex, interactive, and gamified experiences.

Landowners will have the opportunity to develop scenes that track player data through controlled access to dedicated servers. The standard Decentraland experience will become a polished social platform, seamlessly integrating optimized game modes. I imagine city-wide events in Genesis City, such as capture-the-flag games, group treasure hunts, and other cross-parcel or estate gaming activities.

In summary, I envision Decentraland reaching its full potential by offering both spontaneous and planned gaming experiences that cover vast areas, spanning up to a mile (86 x 86 meters) or more. These experiences will guide players through unexplored scenes and provide unique adventures unparalleled on any other platform.

:mountain: Immediate Challenges and Thoughts :mountain:

Decentraland stands as a beacon of innovation in the Web3 landscape, embodying the transformative potential of decentralization. However, its continued success hinges on our ability to navigate critical governance challenges, limited funding, growing competition, and the need to sustain user engagement.

The release of Client 2.0 brought significant improvements, including enhanced performance, immersive environments, badges, daily quests, mini-games, improved avatars, and the Creator Hub. While these updates are exciting, the release also introduced several bugs that are actively being addressed by an amazingly talented and dedicated team, including Eldanak, Stévame, Vitsky, Kaze and others. Unfortunately, these bugs have caused some features that previously worked on user-owned Land to either function poorly or not work at all. For instance, my 2D snake game works perfectly in Client 1.0 but does not function in 2.0. Similarly, while users could ride my roller coaster without issues in Client 1.0, most people experience problems in 2.0.

In addition, the proposal to establish a Council has faced opposition because many believe it would centralize power and diminish the role of voting power. As I understand, critics believe that giving significant authority to this Council would undermine Decentraland’s principles of decentralization and autonomy. They also highlight concerns about the need to trust the Council and the potential risk of a Sybil attack if the system is exploited.

I believe I understand the general concerns surrounding the formation of a Council. After careful consideration, I think a temporary Council could bring focused progress, conserve resources, and streamline processes in our fast-paced environment. Ultimately, whether the Council proves itself to be beneficial or harmful will depend on how it is implemented and the intentions of its members.

Dear Decentraland Community and Friends,

When I started writing this application, only a handful of submissions had been made. Since then, I’ve seen many applications from individuals with impressive expertise in all the relevant fields. I’ve also read and reflected on the concerns surrounding the formation of this Council.

Rather than using this opportunity to promote myself, I want to be transparent: I genuinely want what’s best for Decentraland, and I’m not certain if I am the best candidate for this role. However, I am deeply passionate about this project. Decentraland is a space where artists and dreamers can bring their imagination to life and share their creativity with the world, and that vision truly inspires me.

In terms of potentially serving on this Council, I feel as a scientist, I bring analytical rigor and problem-solving skills. As a creator, I have honed a deep understanding of storytelling and user experience design. As a user, and founding member of the WonderWall Crew, I understand the communal and therapeutic value of Decentraland for users, especially those navigating personal challenges like health issues or social development. My leadership experience in academia and the Web3 space has further sharpened my ability to collaborate, integrate diverse perspectives, and work toward shared goals.

I am passionate about empowering creators, fostering innovation, and building inclusive communities. I am committed to helping Decentraland achieve its immense potential and demonstrating that decentralization is not only viable but a natural evolution of our technological future.

I submit my application to the Decentraland DAO Council with gratitude and humility. This community has shown me the power of collaboration, creativity, and resilience. Together, we can build an inclusive and innovative ecosystem that sets new benchmarks for what is possible in the metaverse. I look forward to the opportunity to help shape Decentraland’s future, ensuring it becomes a thriving hub of creativity and a shining example of decentralized innovation.

ChronoT has always been passionate about building, learning how things work, and helping people! Proof is his Youtube tutorial series called Decentraland Demystified. A big thank to you! The wildcat game, the unique roller-coaster were proof of his dedication to the betterment of Decentraland as a platform for users to enjoy. A yes from me!
