Introduction

How we doin Decentraland Community? Howie Doin here with our monthly update on the Atlas Analytics grant project! Was great to see everyone at the Summit last month. Don’t forget to check out the new features at: https://data-dapp-dev.atlascorp.io

Highlights

*On the Decentraland Summit… *

I wanted to start by mentioning the Decentraland Summit in Argentina. I wanted to thank everyone that came to our presentation, it was really a great session with really good conversations around data technology, data privacy, and data regulation. I look forward to following up with some of the conversations that began that day, and encourage those of you reading this to join in.

If anyone would like a copy of the presentation that was shared at the Summit please feel free to reach out, though the conversation in the room that day was bound by Chatham House rules so we do want to respect the privacy and confidentiality of those that attended.

On Analytics…

We’ve resumed our expansion of the types of analytics the platform provides to execute on some of the ideas we had when we kicked off the project. One of the new features we’ve added is the ability to understand a User Journey. If you click on the icon for each user within the User Table section of the application, you’ll be taken to a page that creates a narrative for that user’s participation in a scene.

The user journey introduces AI-capabilities to create a brief overview of a user’s actions in a scene, as well as detailing each of the actions a user took in order. This allows scene owners and operators to better understand their users - similar to how web2 analytics platforms provide information. This chart will be more interesting if there are more granular or custom events are included in a scene - check out the documentation on the platform to learn more about how to do this.

On Open Sourcing…

We are proud to announce that the majority of the Atlas Analytics platform has been made open source. You can find the code here, which is open source under the MIT License: atlas-analytics-os · GitLab

The majority of the applications include documentation on how to run and deploy each of the microservices and how they work together to form the Atlas Analytics platform. While we don’t expect everyone to dive in and host a complex platform on their own, we want to ensure that this application is decentralized and not private to just Atlas Corp. If anyone has any deeper questions on how the code works or how to deploy various Atlas Analytics microservices, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

On Testing…

Finally, we just recently completed our User Testing session with the Grant Support Squad this week. We tested the “Atlas Analytics Data Capture and Reporting” capabilities, which are distinct from testing the deployment of Atlas Analytics within a scene, or the deployment of the platform itself. We wanted to thank everyone that had a chance to participate and for the productive feedback we got from the session!

Blockers

No blockers at this time.

Next steps

We’ll be continuing to work on the following over the next few months:

Finalizing the open sourcing of the User Interface - we’ll need to re-architect a few pieces to make it safe to expose
Finishing some of the additional analytics we want to include
Turning our attention to the NPM package and SDK7 support
