Just a question: has there be a recent change in how DCL counts file sizes? I gave Toxic these files:
In my universe’s math, this makes a total of 2.066.065 Bytes or 68% of what is possible according to the docs. Inside the ZIP file I can download here from this thread, there are two additional, NEW CREATED files - image.png with 388.808 Bytes and thumbnail.png with 928.031 Bytes, which gives additional 1.316.839 Bytes, or 43% of the total available space just for a FU****** thumbnail. I can even compress these PNGs further down to 875.594 Bytes.
The bottom line is simply this: I followed the specifications, and if the pipeline doesn’t count correctly or isn’t even capable of properly compressing PNGs, that’s not my problem. Someone should really review the process and the code how these ZIPs are created and file sizes are counted.
I could also start creating wearables like they looked in 2020, just with a palette and not bigger than 500KB that the inflated thumbnail has more space, which is - as we all know - the most important thing on a wearable ![]()
Sorry, but I’m about to explode.
Im fully aware of this issue and will forward it to the rest of the team to see if an automated system could be implemented for the compression of these files. Did you try compressing the additional files and re uploading the zip? Sorry for the frustration caused!
By the way: I could even compress the contents of the ZIP with my own standard ZIP packer down from 3.303.183 to 3.149.895 Bytes. DCL does not even compress the ZIP fully. This is simply ridiculous how it’s wasting file space while it’s task is to preserve file space
I could only lower the quality of the JPEGs - with unavoidable artifacts. Maybe we can later reupload the GLBs again like they are now if the system has been fixed (which should be top priority IMHO)
Hi @Yannakis could you please check again? We updated the files
