Regenesis Labs Meetup —

First, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the progress that has been made. GinoCT has followed through on several of the transparency issues raised over the past several months — fixing broken documentation links in the governance UI, adding a CI checker to catch future broken links automatically, flagging the former Committee wallets as disputed on the transparency page, correcting the internal wallet transfer expense reporting error, and improving the transparency GitHub documentation. That work is visible, verifiable, and appreciated. Thank you Gino.

It’s also good to hear that Council compensation has finally been resolved. That was long overdue and I’m glad it’s been addressed.

With that said, the following questions remain open and I’d like to put them on the record for the meetup and for anyone following along:

1. DAO Web Presence
The Foundation has deliberately removed all DAO references from decentraland.org. This has been confirmed publicly by the Foundation. With that separation now in place, is there a plan for a DAO-owned, DAO-operated web presence? Who would build it, who funds it, and is there a timeline?

2. Plain-Language Explanation of the Three Entities
Where does a community member — new or existing — go to find a clear, accessible explanation of the difference between the Decentraland Foundation, the Decentraland DAO, and DCL Regenesis Labs? What each one is, what it does, and what it does not do. One sentence in the docs is not sufficient given how much confusion this causes.

3. Regenesis Labs Website
dclregenesislabs.xyz redirects to a financial dashboard. There is no general information page explaining what Regenesis Labs is, what it does, or how to contact them. Is that intentional? Is there a plan to create one?

4. How to Reach the Council
Where does a community member go to contact the Council directly? It should not require knowing where to look on the forum. Is there a plan to make this more accessible?

5. DAO Document Maintenance
Official DAO documentation still describes governance bodies that no longer exist. The Governance Legislative Tracker has not been updated since May 2024. Who is now formally responsible for maintaining DAO documents, keeping links current, and ensuring accuracy going forward? Is there a plan and a timeline?

6. Council Vacancy
The Council began with 6 members. Manuel Araoz resigned in June 2025. The governance proposal establishing the Council requires an open call for a replacement within one month of a resignation. Was that call ever made? Was a replacement ever elected? If not, why not and does operating with a vacant seat require any community disclosure?

It has been 24 hours since the Regenesis Labs meetup where I raised several governance questions. GinoCT was not present. Representation from both the Council and Regenesis Labs was, IMO, disappointing with one notable exception — someone who consistently shows up and engages in a way that stands in clear contrast to everyone else. Her devotion and work in Decentraland does not go unnoticed.

My questions remain unanswered and in some cases deflected. Increasing users always seems to be the deflect. Well…..

User growth is the right priority. A thriving active community is what makes Decentraland worth governing. That is not in dispute. But governance health and user growth are not competing priorities, they depend on each other. New users who arrive and cannot find the DAO, cannot understand who runs what, or discover that official documentation describes governance bodies that no longer exist are not going to stay. They are going to leave confused. And in a space where people have experienced enough rugs, dishonesty, and broken promises to last a lifetime, many of them are going to do their own research. What do you think they will find? What conclusion do you think they will come to?

The Decentraland DAO has a community-approved mission statement voted on through governance: “Ensure the sustainability of the Decentraland Ecosystem through representative governance, efficient management of collective resources, and technical innovation.” It is not published on the DAO website. It is not on the governance portal. It exists in a governance proposal that most people will never find.

Every question I have raised maps directly to that mission. These are not fringe concerns. They are what the community voted on.

The question is not growth versus governance. It is whether we are building something worth growing.

And people may wonder why am I so concerned with all this, what do I want from this? To quote one of the greats, @Canessa , WHAT IS YOUR WHY? Well here you go:

I want to be excited about Decentraland and sell people on it. I cannot honestly do that the way things are right now. I want to be able to answer questions about DCL, not tell people I don’t know and there’s nowhere to find an answer. Metaverse platforms have gone into the void in large numbers. People who lived through that are not going to come to the one with the most potential if they see the same red flags that led to the demise of their world

We should be reaching out to those communities — from Spatial, Everdome, Futureverse, and countless others. Letting them know we are building something solid, that we have been building it, and that they are welcome here. That there is something worth being excited about. I want to be able to say that with confidence. We are not there yet.
