Dear friends,
On X I asked by tag the Decentraland X account whether the way the avatars run in client 2.0 will change. I also made a Canny request about the current way of running (I hope I said that correctly). I have not received any substantive response to this. That is why I would like to try it here now and hope that I can at least be taken seriously.
I find the current way of running in client 2.0 terrible. It seems as if we are puppets on strings and have pooped our pants. And besides, what’s wrong with the running style in 1.0?
I would like to ask you what you think of the way of running in 2.0. Am I really the only one who finds it terrible?
Jeremy, you keep confusing the DAO collective and the Foundation.
The IP for the “Client 2.0” is owned by the Foundation, for any grievances about it, you must address yourself to them, not to the members of the DAO collective !
Dear Ozy, thank you for your response. My question is intended for all citizens of Decentraland. I thought that was the DAO, right? In any case, my sincere apologies if I seem to have confused you again.
Don’t get me wrong, I will be the first in line to agree with you !
The new animations are horribly clunky, and combined with the new motion mechanics, the feeling of clumsiness is just overwhelming.
But while it can be useful to create a Poll to ascertain the actual knowledge levels of the DAO collective (I’m still experimenting ^_^'), it is a bit much to create a whole Poll for what can be nothing more than opinion.
Because in the end, the DAO collective has no say in what the Foundation does with their own product. So the outcome of this vote won’t be serving much purpose, I’m afraid.
@JeremyBrooks I vaguely remember custom locomotion being mentioned as a future possible feature so that scenes (and maybe users themselves) can override the default locomotion. It may be on the list of future features already.
I thought the running animaion was meant for a quick test for the alpha version. I wasn’t expecting to see it in the release version too. It looks much more comical and less serious this way.
My only hope is, they brought this animation with the promise of letting users customize their running, walking, jogging, idle etc. animations just by selecting in the settings or buying on marketplace (like emotes). So, let’s wait a while like waiting for many other missing features.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the client 2.0 and appreciate the work done by the foundation. I am just pissed that web is no longer targeted and there is no release planned for Linux.
Don’t worry @JeremyBrooks, at first I was also confused about what requests to make in Canny and in the DAO, it’s a bit confusing.
I’ve given your proposal an up arrow to get Foundation’s attention, one more doesn’t do much, but if anyone else doesn’t like the way of running in the 2.0 client they can support it here: Ridiculous way of running in 2.0 | Voters | Decentraland
Invalid DAO request but upvoted on Canny. It can take a while for foundation to complete requests, but it seems that the more upvotes the more they take the request as a priority. Maybe send the link throughout your Discord communities to gain more awareness.
Good luck,
Jenn
