Hi Sango, thank you for reviewing this.

Yes, this emissions level is deliberate. My aim is to be of similar brightness of when pointing a telescope at a star. When pointing a telescope to the night sky, due to diffraction within the telescope, there is also some slight dimming around the stars, which often looks like disks or rings.

The less to non emissive portions on the dress are intended to simulate this while also referencing the starburst affect (diffraction spike) we see in other optics with support vanes for a secondary mirror (e.g. the hubble space telescope) or a square aperture.
