Currently, once deployed on a user’s parcel, videos, like advertisements or individual content, is only been played fluently, once a user’s is on the exact plot the experience is deployed on. Once users leave the plot, the videos lose a lot of the quality and happen to appear rather like gifs than videos. This reduces the user experience drastically.
For the sake of user experience, aesthetics, and possibilities for users for private or business purposes, should Decentraland work on the playback quality of videos from afar?
I would likely comment the same, like my predecessor, but the comment for performance would only make sense out of my perspective, if this would apply for a certain fixed range.
Yet videos are being played fluently regardless the estate size - if the video source was deployed on a 3x3 parcel then video is being played without any problems on the whole estate. But if the same build would be deployed on a 1x1, then it is only being played well on the 16x16m. This doesn’t have anything to do with performance, rather with the principle of hierarchy. The highest priority is always on the plot that is being visited, that’s the only reason it seems.
So, I would vote for yes in that case as there need to be some improvements in the user experience. But my voting power counts nothing compared to other whales who have a saying in the platform development.
I voted no, because performance will be badly affected. If you have a gaming PC then yes the experience will be enhanced. But DCL wants to attract everyone, not just gamers.
